Victim Tells Jailed Abuser: "You Have Not Won"

The survivor of a sexual predator declared "you have not won" as their assailant was sent to jail.

Richard Krakowski pleaded guilty to seven charges of sexual assault and one charge of voyeurism spanning a 12-year timeframe at the same courthouse in December.

The individual, who is 72 years old and resides on Roman Road in Blackburn, received a sentence of nine years and three months at the Preston Crown Court prior to this occasion.

The misconduct, occurring from 2012 to 2024, involved Krakowski sexually assaulting his victim and recording these acts to satisfy his "perverted sexual desires." Additionally, he set up a covert camera in a restroom to capture her both on film and in photographs.

'Depraved'

The police were informed when an SD card was handed over to another person, with Krakowski believing it contained only a harmless recording.

Rather, numerous pictures and video clips depicting Krakowski's misconduct were retrieved from the memory card.

In a declaration presented to the court, the victim stated: "I trust you won't have the opportunity to harm another person in such a manner ever again."

I'm reconstructing my life and growing more resilient each day.

"You have not won."

Detective Constable Beth Turner stated that the victim's courage "ensures that Krakowski can no longer harm or mistreat anyone."

Krakowski is a sexual predator," she stated. "He exploited his victim for his personal sexual satisfaction.

He documented the mistreatment to satisfy his twisted sexual desires, leaving others to handle the aftermath of the devastation he wrought.

His behavior could only be termed as appalling.

Four Sentenced for Brutal Killing of Taxi Passenger

Four individuals have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in the "cruel and appalling" murder of a man who was stabbed through the window of a cab in East London.

Anselam Senaj, who was 26 years old, died after the taxi he was riding in was abruptly halted by a silver Mitsubishi in Newham on November 11, 2023.

Mohammad Saqib Khan, aged 24 and hailing from Enfield, was convicted of murder after being identified as the one who dealt the lethal blow. The court at Old Bailey heard this information. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a mandatory minimum of 26 years behind bars.

Muhammad Samiyul Miah received a life sentence with a minimum term of 25 years for murder. Zain Ali was sentenced to 14 years in prison for manslaughter, and Ibrahim Naim was handed a 10-year and six-month jail term also for manslaughter.

When sentencing them, Judge Judy Khan KC characterized the killing as a "cold and appalling assault" carried out in an open public space, indicating that it was "well-thought-out and pre-planned."

Before his taxi was halted on Victoria Avenue and he was fatally assaulted, Mr. Senaj reportedly stated, “There’s another vehicle following us—they’re going to murder me,” as reported to the court.

Three out of the six people inside the Mitsubishi encircled the taxi and assaulted the victim, who was still seated.

The assailants, dressed in dark clothing and sporting masks along with gloves, brandished knives measuring up to 2 feet (60 centimeters) in length, as the jury was informed.

Before fleeing in their Mitsubishi, one of the assailants stabbed Mr. Senaj in the chest.

Mr. Senaj passed away at the location even though emergency responders tried their best.

The vehicle, having been taken without permission, was discovered the following day completely charred.

The court learned that the motivation behind the assault stemmed from drug-related issues, even though precise motives remained hazy.

Prosecutor Alexandra Healy KC informed the jury: "Subsequent searches revealed drugs on Mr. Senaj, along with messages retrieved from his phone indicating involvement in drug trafficking."

When Mr. Senaj noticed the Mitsubishi approaching him, he immediately realized he was in peril and informed the taxi driver that the people inside would harm him.

Painfully, he was completely correct in gauging their level of interest.

On Friday at the hearing, the victim's cousin Elira Senaj criticized the perpetrators, stating: "You will forever remain cowards and mere boys."

Your mission required numerical data and armaments. You battled as though you were still a boy when the circumstances should have been fair for both sides.

Miah, who is 19 years old and hails from Manor Park, also pleaded guilty to possessing a knife. His sentencing took into account an additional conviction for raping a 15-year-old girl in a north London park back in March 2023.

Ali, who is 22 years old, and Naim, 18, both residents of East Ham, were acquitted of murder charges but found guilty of the less serious offense of manslaughter.

Ali was additionally tasked with seizing the victim's telephone.

DA Outraged Over Parole for Man Who Killed South Shore Teen in 1967

Timothy J. Cruz, the Plymouth District Attorney, expresses his "outrage" over the decision to grant parole to a man who killed a 15-year-old girl in Hingham back in 1967.

"I am appalled that yet again, the state Parole Board has decided to approve parole for a murderer," Cruz stated.

In March 1967, at the age of 78, Roger Francis shot and killed Marialice Pike. Her body, which had been struck by several bullets, was discovered by a Massachusetts State Trooper in the center divider along Route 3, as stated in parole board records. She died from these injuries.

Following the incident, Francis escaped to Canada, abandoning his car as stated by the board. Within the abandoned vehicle, investigators discovered proof connecting Francis to the killing, such as bloodstains and spent shell casings.

When Francis was apprehended in Canada, he told police, “I’ve been expecting you fellows,” the document said.

Francis was found guilty of first-degree murder related to Pike’s death and received the required sentence of life imprisonment without the chance for parole following his conviction, according to the judgment.

Nevertheless, Francis became eligible for parole after a Supreme Judicial Court decision determined that sentencing people aged 18 to 20 at the time of their crime to life imprisonment without the chance of parole is unconstitutional, as stated in the ruling.

"Where a parole applicant was found guilty of first-degree murder for a crime they committed between the ages of 18 and 20, the Board takes into account the 'distinctive features' of emerging adulthood that set apart young adult offenders from those who are older," the decision indicated.

"The SJC has concluded that life imprisonment without the possibility of parole is unconstitutional for individuals who were 20 years old or younger when they committed their crimes," said Melissa Celli, who is Francis' attorney. The Boston Globe In their statement, they acknowledged that individuals who carried out violent offenses during their youth still possess the capability for rehabilitation.

Cruz stated that his office "remained steadfast" in opposition to Francis’s request for parole.

Although Francis was just 20 years old at the time he murdered Marialice, the cruelty he displayed both during and following her killing indicates that releasing him would not be advantageous for our community," Cruz stated. "Before escaping to another country in March 1967, Francis brutally shot and killed Marialice, demonstrating a distinct awareness of how serious his acts were as well as an apprehension about facing repercussions.

According to the board’s decision, members stated that Francis seemed to be "dealing with significant mental health problems before committing the crime." They also mentioned that during his imprisonment, he underwent several psychiatric hospital stays and received different forms of therapeutic treatments.

Francis’s original first-degree murder conviction from November 1967 was annulled in 1990 due to incorrect jury guidance. He remained free on bail for thirteen years until his second conviction on June 17, 2003, as stated by the board.

The decision stated that Francis has shown "an extraordinarily positive adjustment during his time in prison, with no disciplinary issues, and has been entrusted with significant responsibilities." The board determined this makes his release "consistent with societal well-being."

The board instructed Francis to adhere to multiple stipulations such as undergoing mental health therapy, avoiding alcohol consumption, and not reaching out to Pike’s relatives.

“I urge the Parole Board not to collectively decide that Francis has been rehabilitated and should be reintroduced into society. Instead, they must first consider their duties towards victims such as Marialice and her family before permitting individuals like Francis to move freely amongst us,” Cruz stated.

Menendez Brothers Re-sentencing: Erik and Lyle Prepare for Crucial Court Hearing

The Brief
  • Erik and Lyle Menendez are set for a potentially crucial court hearing on Friday, April 11.
  • The siblings were found guilty of killing their mother and father around thirty years prior.
  • The court proceeding scheduled for Friday may focus on a potential resentencing.

LOS ANGELES - Thirty years following the conviction of Erik and Lyle Menendez Their case is once again grabbing attention with a potentially crucial court hearing approaching.

What we know

The Menendez brothers do not have to be present for the hearing, set to start at 10 a.m. on Friday, provided they have proper legal counsel.

It all revolves around the potential for resentencing.

In 1989, the siblings were convicted of killing their mother and father in Beverly Hills and received life imprisonment with no chance of release.

In recent years, there has been significant efforts led primarily by their family to have their sentence revisited with the aim of getting them released from prison onto parole.

Previously the District Attorney of Los Angeles County George Gascón advocated for sentence reconsideration. However, the newly appointed DA, Nathan Hochman, does not back it.

The hearing scheduled for Friday focuses on the document previously submitted by former District Attorney Gascón to the court, requesting they reconsider sentencing for the brothers. Hochman seeks to have this document withdrawn, and these arguments will be presented before a judge.

During distinct hearings, the California State Parole Board is concurrently reviewing their cases, and after more than thirty years of incarceration for these brothers, they will provide their input to the governor. This feedback will assist him in determining whether or not to grant the brothers clemency.

LA DA: '16 falsehoods still go unrecognized'

What they're saying

Hochman states that the brothers have not demonstrated genuine regret and persist in fabricating details of the events from 1989.

" When examining whether the Menendez brothers have shown full insight and genuine accountability for their actions, they haven't. This is evident from the fact that out of 20 specific falsehoods identified, they acknowledged only four, leaving 16 unconfessed lies, as Hochman pointed out earlier.

Fathers Jailed After Violent Home Invasion While Baby Slept Unharmed

Two individuals have been incarcerated after they broke into a residence and threatened the residents at knifepoint while an infant was sleeping upstairs.

Colin Brown, aged 36, who resides on Stanway Road in Coney Hill, along with Craig Wood, 33, from Portreath Way in Kingsway, received their sentences at Gloucester Crown Court on March 27th.

Wearing balaclavas and carrying a crowbar and serrated knife, the two individuals burst into a home in the Mount Pleasant district of Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Wood received a five-year prison sentence whereas Brown was given an 11-year jail term because of his prior offenses related to burglary and a serious driving violation.

The court was informed that the men reached the location just before 2:50 PM GMT on January 8th.

The video from the doorbell camera revealed that Brown and Wood were trying to break into the main entrance of the property. When a man inside confronted them, Wood threatened to shoot him and instructed Brown to "call the shooter."

Brown employed a crowbar to break the window prior to the duo gaining access to the premises.

As soon as he entered, Brown wrestled the man to the ground and pressed a knife against his throat, urgently asking where the marijuana was hidden.

At the same time, another woman inside the property had confined herself along with her child in an upper-level bedroom.

While she was talking to the police on the phone, one of the intruders ascended the stairs and forcibly opened the door.

He brandished a knife at the woman, snatched her phone, demanded where the narcotics were located, then descended the stairs once more.

Brown and Wood subsequently attacked the male victim, resulting in injuries such as cuts and scrapes on his hands, before departing from the location along with the woman's telephone.

The Gloucestershire Police arrived at the location in just five minutes and quickly identified Wood close to the premises, his face still covered with a balaclava. He was promptly taken into custody and faced charges of aggravated burglary.

A knife utilized for threatening the victims was located in the hallway of the premises, whereas a crowbar along with an amount of cannabis was unearthed in a nearby garden.

Brown left the area but was found 10 days afterward. Additionally, he was taken into custody and faced charges for aggravated burglary.

He was instructed to pay a victim surcharge of £228, and both individuals were issued a 12-year restraining order.

'Terrifying ordeal'

Detective Constable Mollie Grice from the Criminal Investigations Division stated: “In broad daylight, around mid-afternoon, Brown and Wood carried out this brutal invasion of a home where a young child was sleeping upstairs. This undoubtedly would have been an extremely harrowing experience for those involved.”

I am glad that Wood and Brown are now experiencing the repercussions of what they did, and I trust that their sentencing will show that we handle such cases with utmost seriousness and ensure thorough investigations followed by bringing those responsible to face justice.

Nobody should feel vulnerable in their own residences, and we will keep aggressively pursuing those who engage in break-ins within our neighborhoods.

Belfast Man Jailed for Four Years After Luring Teen to Home and Rape

A 47-year-old man who enticed a "vulnerable" teenage girl to his house, where he then sexually abused and attacked her, has been sentenced to four years in prison.

David Voyle refuted five charges brought against him. After a trial in October, he was found guilty on all counts by the jury.

On Friday, he returned to the Belfast Crown Court dock, where Judge Philip Gilpin handed down his sentence.

Originally from west Belfast, but residing on Townhill Road in Portglenone, the man who has four children was also subjected to an eight-year Sexual Offenses Prevention Order.

At the trial, the jury learned that on Wednesday, June 5 of the prior year, the PSNI received a statement from the victim’s parents claiming that their daughter was sexually assaulted the preceding Saturday.

She informed the authorities that on the Saturday of June 1st, she along with her trio of friends had spent an enjoyable day at the seaside.

The group had some drinks, and they returned to Belfast around 9 pm. After her friends caught buses to go home, the victim informed them that she had no funds and planned to walk back to her place.

As she strolled through Belfast, she came across Voyle on the street; he had been observing a soccer game at a downtown pub.

The disorientated teenager told Voyle she was lost and her phone wasn’t working and he told her she could come to his house and phone a taxi to take her home.

Voyle and the teenager proceeded to walk to his house in the Divis district of Belfast. Upon arrival, he suggested offering her something to drink, but she declined.

He took her to his room and commanded her to remove her clothing before committing sexual assault against her.

As she wept, pleaded for him to cease, and attempted to fend him off, Voyle instructed her to 'stop talking,' slapped her across the face, and proceeded to rape her. Throughout this ordeal, he also bit her ear.

Following the assault, Voyle instructed her to stand up and put her clothes back on.

They descended to the lower floor, and once Voyle stepped out of his house for a short time, she looked at her phone once more. Upon seeing that it was functioning correctly, she utilized it to snap a photo of Voyle’s image that he had attached to his refrigerator.

She exited his house promptly as a male passer-by escorted the teenager to a garage located on Falls Road, where a taxi driver was refueling their vehicle.

He handed the driver £2 to transport the teenager back home.

On June 4th, which was a Tuesday, she shared with her sister what had occurred. The next day, her parents were notified, and the police were alerted.

Two days later, Voyle was taken into custody and questioned.

He admitted that when he was returning home from the pub, he encountered the girl and offered to let her use his phone to call a cab.

Voyle subsequently made a false statement claiming that after kissing the girl, they had sexual intercourse with her consent. He alleged that afterward, he went to an ATM to withdraw money for a taxi fare but upon returning home, found that she was no longer there.

He upheld his position throughout the trial; however, it was dismissed by the jury, which ruled him guilty of rape, two instances of common assault, and two charges of sexual assault.

At Friday's hearing, it came to light that Voyle still maintains the sexual encounter was consensual and refuses to admit using any force.

Judge Gilpin stated that the young victim was "vulnerable" during the incident because of her age, being under the influence, and feeling "lost" and "isolated" when confronted by Voyle.

He said to Voyle, "You portrayed yourself as her savior...she placed her faith in you, but you violated that trust."

The defense arguments gathered by Gavan Duffy KC outline Voyle’s personal situation, encompassing his struggles with mental health and signs of PTSD linked to incidents from the Troubles era.

Following the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Nick Harris stated: "Voyle pretended to help a teenage girl by offering to call her a cab for her journey home but instead betrayed her trust in one of the most heartless ways possible."

She has shown great bravery in ensuring this investigation reaches a fruitful completion.

I am hopeful that her determination and resolve to hold this individual accountable for his actions will inspire others who have faced any kind of sexual assault to report their experiences to law enforcement.

Couple Behind Bars After 'Incredibly Dangerous' 90-Minute Motorbike Chase

Two individuals who led police on a "highly risky" chase spanning 90 minutes through three distinct law enforcement jurisdictions have been sentenced to prison.

Police helicopters directed traffic officers and armed patrol units in their search for two individuals following an alleged road rage incident involving a knife threat against a woman driver near Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Motorcycle rider Jake Fagan, aged 29, was clocked at reaching velocities up to 90mph during the chase which occurred on the afternoon of July 18 the previous year. The high-speed incident began in Ellesmere Port, crossed into Merseyside, continued onward towards Chester, and finally extended into North Wales.

Fagan mistakenly drove against traffic on an exit ramp of the M56. He was accompanied by his rear-seat passenger, Connor Mitchell, who was also 29 years old. They were eventually apprehended in the center of Chester when law enforcement effectively used stinger devices.

Onlookers applauded as the officer tackled Fagan like in rugby when both tried to flee on foot.

During the chase, the suspects threw away a bag that was subsequently retrieved by authorities. It was discovered to hold Class A narcotics, according to Cheshire Police.

In his police interview, Fagan from Exeter Road, Ellesmer Port, attacked a wall with punches and headbutts, according to law enforcement officials.

A few days before, Fagan had dismounted from his motorcycle to attack a man on Eton Road in the town.

On Thursday, he received a sentence of four years and eight months at Chester Crown Court for admitting to charges including dangerous driving, assault, possessing a knife, intending to distribute cocaine, dealing with stolen items, and committing criminal damage, according to law enforcement officials.

Mitchell from Farndale Drive, Elton, Chester, received a sentence of three and a half years in prison after admitting to possessing a knife and intending to distribute cocaine.

After the sentencing, Detective Constable Demi Brownrigg stated: "I am pleased with the sentences imposed on Fagan and Mitchell, as they demonstrated utter disregard for the safety of the public during their extremely hazardous chase with law enforcement."

The chase extended across three distinct police jurisdictions. Nevertheless, due to our officers collaborating effectively, we managed to maintain surveillance on the suspects and ultimately halt their concerning actions.

This should illustrate that if you commit a crime in Cheshire, we will track you down and use every available resource to safeguard the communities we serve while ensuring you face justice.
