Panaji (Goa), India, April 17 (ANI): For the first time in Indian football history, coaches from an England-based soccer team have been involved in developing local talent. Norwich City FC they brought their global experience to the Dream Sports Championship Football 2025 National Finals held in Goa as part of the 'Dream Again' program. Dream Sports Foundation The seven-day U-17 football competition also included four specialized workshops addressing different areas of football development, as stated in an official statement. Dream Sports Foundation .

The comprehensive program included sessions on leadership in coaching, physical and medical training, as well as development for coaches and supporting staff, all led by head coaches and physiotherapists from Norwich City. During this week-long event, the workshops offered Indian coaches an extensive opportunity for professional growth.

The leadership and coaching sessions gave them practical know-how and player management techniques vital for achieving team goals. Conducted by Norwich City’s physiotherapist, the physical and medical workshops offered key information about preventing injuries, following rehab procedures, and keeping players fit, particularly for younger talents still growing. The section dedicated to enhancing coaches and staff emphasized crafting enduring training plans and fostering a supportive atmosphere among teammates inside the locker room.

In addition to the coaches' workshop, a special Goalkeeper's Masterclass was held exclusively for the young goalkeepers from both the participating boys’ and girls’ teams. The session was led by an ex-Indian national team goalkeeper. Subrata Paul alongside Joe Shulberg , Norwich City’s Academy Supervisor and ex-goalminder.

"It was both heartening and profoundly inspirational to see dedicated young goalkeepers from every part of India unite," stated Paul, according to a statement released by them. Dream Sports Foundation .

"These young talents came together as a close-knit family within mere days, offering support, encouragement, and motivation for one another to excel," he mentioned.

Paul stressed that programs such as Dream Again go further than mere technical instruction: "This initiative isn’t solely focused on imparting goalkeeper skills; rather, it aims at fostering robust mental fortitude, brave spirits, and an intense passion for football."

Shulberg's dynamic method struck a chord with the young goalkeepers as he imparted knowledge gained from his time in English football.

"Expose yourself to as many difficult situations as you can. Embrace the pressure," recommended Shulberg.

He emphasized, 'Push yourself harder during training than you would during the actual game; as a result, the game will become simpler.'

The manager of the Norwich City Academy also promoted versatility in developing young athletes, stating, "It’s important to play various sports from an early age, specifically between the ages of 9 and 16."

Recounting his personal story, Shulberg shared how he switched positions from an outfield player to a goalkeeper at 13 years old, which eventually led him to be noticed by Nottingham Forest. This highlights how mentorship and chance encounters can reshape a talented youngster’s career trajectory.

The workshops showcased how the Dream Again initiative is fostering significant links between global football experience and India’s rising talents, offering motivation and hands-on learning that goes far beyond the scope of just the competition. (ANI)

Nuggets Owner Challenges Team to "Rise Higher" Following Michael Malone's Firing

categories: , , , ,

Denver Nuggets Interim coach David Adelman stressed the importance of unity and maintaining focus on the playoffs during his initial gathering with the team members since taking over. Mike Malone was let go the previous day. .

Adelman spoke to the team Wednesday before their game in Sacramento against the Kings and reminded the Nuggets that they’re still part of the competition crowded playoff race in the Western Conference .

"The last 30 hours have been pretty crazy, pretty stressful for everybody," said Adelman, who was Malone’s top assistant. "But the bottom line was we have to stay unified. I think it was a good thing for everyone to sit in a room together and realize that we have not played to our expectation as of late. That’s not just the players (but) everybody that’s a part of this."

Following two seasons post leading the Nuggets to their sole best performance, NBA The championship saw Malone being let go on Tuesday as the Nuggets attempt to recover from their downward spiral, which caused Denver to plummet from second place in the Western Conference down to sharing fourth with four other teams before their match against the Kings on Wednesday.

Should the Nuggets triumph in their last three regular-season matches, they might rise as far as the third spot in the Western Conference.

“We’re right in the middle of things here,” Adelman stated. “I believe folks often overlook this fact. We still possess an excellent opportunity to achieve something remarkable. This has been discussed, and the team seems very confident. Therefore, I anticipate a strong performance from them tonight.”

Besides dismissing Malone, the Nuggets notified general manager Calvin Booth that his contract would not be renewed.

The Nuggets' president and Governor Josh Kroenke also addressed the players and conveyed a straightforward message.

In short: Improve yourself,” Adelman stated when questioned about Kroenke’s message.

Even with the end-of-season turmoil, Adelman mentioned that the Nuggets don't have ample opportunity to dwell on the newest controversy.

“It’s just another NBA moment, you have to handle it,” Adelman stated. “We’ll strive to make the most of this situation and turn things around.”

To reach an improved standard for competing in that tournament. The Western region is insane. If you enter that competition without performing at your peak, you'll be eliminated swiftly.

Adelman admitted having conversations with Malone following the termination, yet chose not to elaborate further. He instead used this chance to commend the person he has collaborated with over eight years.

“What he has done for this team makes him arguably the best coach in history,” Adelson stated. “In terms of win percentages, championships reached, particularly Final titles, along with the experience he provided which enabled my own growth as a coach, cannot be disputed.”

What we have going on right now, whether you call it the national narrative or something else, I see it as an incredible streak. He isn’t finished yet. It’s an honor to be working for him and an honor to hold this position and do my absolute best.

Assistant Coach Under Deion Sanders Heads to Rival's Program

Former Colorado Buffaloes Gary "Flea" Harrell, the running backs coach, has secured yet another college football position, this time just a couple of hours north of Boulder.

On Tuesday, the Wyoming Cowboys introduced Harrell as their newest addition to the team, appointing him as the running backs coach. He will be replacing Donnell Kirkwood Jr., who is heading to Washington State. Prior to this role with Wyoming, Harrell was associated with the coaching staff at Colorado. Deion Sanders For the last five years, which includes his time over three seasons at Jackson State, he parted ways during the recent off-season. Known as "Coach Prime," the individual announced that Pro Football Hall of Famer will now be joining him. Marshall Faulk As the Buffs' newly appointed running backs coach in February.

Harrell will now serve under Wyoming coach Jay Sawvel, who had a record of 3-9 during his inaugural season with the Cowboys last year.

During the interview process, Coach Harrell was notably distinguished by his extensive experience in coaching this specific role and his comprehensive background as a mentor, including his tenure as the head coach at his alma mater," stated Sawvel in a press statement. "His reputation is impeccable, particularly regarding his strategic acumen on offense, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the University of Wyoming. We look forward to integrating him into our team both within the classroom and alongside players on the practice fields.

As Sawvel mentioned, Harrell was the head coach at Howard, which competes at the Football Championship Subdivision level, from 2011-16. The Bison went 20-36 in Harrell's five seasons at the helm.

In 2017-18, Harrell served as the wide receivers coach at Florida Atlantic University. He subsequently took up the role of running backs coach at Alabama State in 2019 prior to his move to join "Coach Prime" at Jackson State in 2020.

“I’m really enthusiastic about this upcoming phase and thrilled to join this team,” Harrell stated. “The positive vibes at the University of Wyoming have been widely praised, and I am eager to seize this chance to infuse my enthusiasm and collaborate with this impressive bunch of young gentlemen.”

Harrell is set to come back to Boulder when Wyoming is slated to face off with the Buffs at Folsom Field on September 20th. The last time Colorado went up against Wyoming was in 2009, and historically, they have maintained an impressive record of 24 wins, two draws, and one loss against the Cowboys.

As part of the Mountain West Conference, Wyoming now finds itself confronting several uncertainties ahead. In the previous autumn, the Pac-12 Conference lured away Utah State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Boise State from the Mountain West, putting Wyoming at a disadvantage. Since then, the Mountain West has added some smaller institutions, yet Wyoming did not gain anything positive from this recent reshuffle in conference affiliations.

While Colorado predominantly depended on the strong arm of their quarterback Shedeur Sanders During Harrell's two-year term, the Buffs' running game faced challenges. In each of the last two seasons, Colorado managed an average of less than 70 rushing yards per game.

Faulk assumes leadership of a running back unit that comprises Micah Welch, Dallan Hayden, Brandon Hood, and veteran Buff Charlie Offerdahl. As noted by Scott Proctor from DNVR on Wednesday, Isaiah Augustave is no longer part of the Colorado football squad.

Andy Farrell Adds Simon Easterby to Lions Tour Coaching Staff Amidst Irish Domination

Andy Farrell plans to bring Simon Easterby into an Ireland-focused role as assistant. Lions coaching team, Telegraph Sport comprehends, with probably no English deputies set to contribute tour to Australia .

Farrell wants to bring aboard Easterby, who stepped in as the interim Ireland head coach during Farrell’s commitments with the Lions.

Previously serving as Farrell’s defensive mentor, Easterby has also held the position of forwards coach. The specifics of his role within the Lions coaching team remain uncertain; however, appointing Easterby—who has been considered for the Wales head coach post—would indeed be significant. This move could be particularly impactful since the Irish Rugby Football Union had earlier stated that he was slated to lead their summer trip to Georgia and Portugal.

Sources have indicated to Telegraph Sport that Farrell will lean on his seasoned allies within the Ireland squad, even though they had an unsatisfactory conclusion to the Six Nations Championship.

Nonetheless, Paul O’Connell might not assume the position of forwards coach despite being widely tipped for the job. In the previous year, the ex-Lions lock stated that he didn’t feel "prepared" for this responsibility. It seems that Andrew Goodman and John Fogarty are leading candidates to fill the positions of attack and scrum coaches respectively.

Contracts will be finalized this week, and Farrell is set to publicly announce his coaching staff on March 26.

Depending on what Easterby’s brief is, there may still be a role for a defence or forwards coach. Scotland defence coach Steve Tandy was the Lions defence coach on the 2021 tour to South Africa and received excellent feedback from the squad.

It is understood that the French Rugby Union are not willing to release Farrell’s former Wigan team-mate Shaun Edwards with the Six Nations champions set to tour New Zealand this summer.

Despite claiming the Triple Crown, Ireland finished in the Six Nations behind England, who scored more points and conceded fewer points than the other home nations. England attack coach Richard Wigglesworth was a team-mate of Farrell’s during their Saracens playing days while England’s scrum has improved immensely under Tom Harrison, but head coach Steve Borthwick indicated he did not expect any of his immediate team to be going to Australia.

“Andy hasn’t talked about any of the coaching team at this stage,” Borthwick said. “I’d love them to have the opportunity. I’d love as many of the management team as possible to have that. That Lions experience I had in 2017 was one of the best, if not the best, experience I’ve had in my life. Working with the best players from four different countries, working with incredible coaches against top-class opposition. I developed and learnt so much as a coach in that period, it was brilliant for me and accelerated my coaching, so I’d love as many other people from the England group to be in there as possible, and I’ll be fully supportive of them all.”

It has been acknowledged that the expanded backroom staff will include increased representation from England, despite Aled Walters serving as head of athletic performance, David Nucifora as general manager, and Vinny Hammond as head of analysis.

It is not unusual for Lions head coaches to depend on known quantities. During the 2021 tour, Warren Gatland called upon Wales assistants Robin McBryde and Rob Howley along with Welshman Steve Tandy. Nonetheless, it is clear Gatland did not agree with Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend. , who was hired as an attack coach, stressed the significance of coordination among the braintrust.

Hopes for large English playing contingent

As the Lions chief executive Ben Calveley told Telegraph Sport last summer, Farrell has been given completely free rein to pick any coach or player he wants without needing to ensure a balanced representation of the four home nations. “It will be absolutely merit-based, this is about being the ‘best of the best’ and we have to fiercely protect that,” Calveley said. “Things like quotas would not be in line with that mentality.”

That applies to players too and Farrell was present in Cardiff to witness England run riot in their record 68-14 defeat of Wales . Borthwick is hoping that England could be set for a bumper representation when Farrell announces his squad on May 8 with players such as Ben Curry, Will Stuart and Fin Smith putting themselves in the frame having started the championship as outside shots.

I believe this is an exhilarating period because we hope to see as many of our England players participating in the Lions tour as feasible," stated Borthwick. "The positive aspect here is that Andy faces some excellent challenges with this situation. He has incredibly difficult choices ahead due to the abundance of talented athletes available. However, having numerous English players on the Lions tour would be advantageous for English rugby.

“I have done the exercise about 10 times, where I’ve sat there and written out which players I think will go – and I end up with a different number each time, because it depends on who’s playing well. Ollie Lawrence was one of those , so I was really disappointed for him that he’s not going to have that opportunity on this Lions tour. I just want as many as possible, and hopefully, hopefully, there aren’t any more injuries to any players.”

Should a sizeable English contingent be selected then that would open opportunities for other players to step up with England facing fixtures against a France XV, Argentina and the USA this summer. That could include Racing 92 winger Henry Arundell, who is available for selection again after signing for Bath , while Borthwick challenged those on the fringes of the main squad to keep knocking on the door.

“We’ve got our players outside that squad, ringing me in, texting me, wanting opportunities, and so there will be opportunities for those players,” Borthwick said. “What I’d say to them is play super well for their clubs between now and the end of the season.

“My coaches will start planning on Thursday this week about the eventualities if a player leaves for the Lions, so we have two players in every position where you have that depth. And so those players will need to play super well for their clubs, and now push the case for selection.”

Rick Pitino Speaks Out: St. John’s HC Reveals Retirement Plans

Rick Pitino has just completed an outstanding stint with the St. John's Red Storm.

His teams posted a record of 31-5 and claimed both the Big East regular season title and the Big East conference tournament championship.

As a No. 2 seed, the Red Storm went into the NCAA Tournament with huge expectations. They easily defeated Omaha in the first round but surprisingly lost to John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks in the second round.

In the end, that disappointing defeat left a bitter feeling for St. John's, yet this is unquestionably a program ascending under the guidance of Coach Pitino.

And indeed, this holds true even though he is 72 years old and has been coaching since 1975.

Can he call it quits? Absolutely, his career has been legendary. Even so, because of his age, Pitino remains passionate about coaching.

"I'm enjoying this more than I ever have in my life," Pitino said. told On Wednesday, SNY stated, "Since it’s New York, the place where I began my journey, I am returning home again. Even at 73 years old, despite feeling as energetic as someone half my age, I recognize that I only have perhaps three to five more productive years ahead. Hence, let me knock on some wood for good luck. With this in mind, why not make the most of it? Why not fully embrace every moment with joy? Moreover, why not strive to excel beyond what I’ve achieved so far? Therefore, I feel an unprecedented level of enthusiasm, eagerness, and determination."

If Pitino remains with St. John's for another five years, he will almost certainly keep the team competitive for a national championship throughout that entire period.

Certainly, another institution might coach him instead, yet considering his emphasis, appearing for New York appears significant to him.

To put things into perspective, Mike Krzyzewski stepped down at the age of 74. On the other hand, Tom Izzo recently celebrated his 70th birthday and continues to be energetic and competitive as ever at Michigan State.

'If Only I'd Said, 'Coach, I'm Drunk'": Gary Payton Reveals His Regret Over Allen Iverson's Practice Outburst

Over a decade since Allen Iverson lashed out at journalists during a press conference, Gary Payton candidly addressed the possibility of him potentially being The genuine cause of A.I.'s well-known "practice rant" According to the Hall of Fame point guard, everything began when the star player from the Philadelphia 76ers sought his advice on maintaining health throughout many seasons.

Payton He disclosed that he directly informed Iverson that he had never experienced fatigue or soreness due to his Seattle Supersonics coach, George Karl, allowing him to miss practices. Much to GP’s astonishment, Iverson gained significant attention from the press when he criticized them about practicing not long after their meeting where they were drinking.

Eventually, Sixers Head Coach Larry Brown discovered that "The Glove" somewhat influenced A.I.’s viewpoint regarding practices, which naturally didn’t sit well with him. Following a game between the Sixers and the Sonics, Brown addressed Payton directly, and in 2013, GP recounted their discussion.

When [Coach] Larry Brown approached me during a game against his team, the Sixers, he mentioned that I had brought something new into play. After one of our matchups, he commented, "See what you’ve started." But I responded, "Coach, I didn’t start this." I explained to him that I only followed instructions from my own coach, and since you’re a different kind of coach, please don’t attribute it to me," Payton recalled on Fox Sports.

I should've simply stated, 'Coach, I’m intoxicated. Period. Coach, I was drunk,' he jokingly added.

From intoxicated counsel to dispute

In all fairness, Payton never once imagined that what he told Iverson would result in controversy. As one of the best NBA players of all time, "The Glove" understood how important practice is, and he didn't mean to influence a fellow NBA star's view on it.

Regrettably, this event greatly worsened Iverson's already damaged image as an athletic figure. The notorious interview had a lasting impact on the career of the 2001 NBA Most Valuable Player, leading to a highly divided public opinion about him.

To this day, numerous fans and critics continue to recall the infamous practice rant every time Iverson’s name comes up. This moment holds such significance for AI that it can be emotionally taxing, continually shaping his image within the sporting world.

I had a ton of stuff going on at that moment. No matter which reporter it was, they wouldn’t stop questioning me regarding the training scenario, so I snapped. What’s wild is everyone finds this hilarious except for me. Allen once opened up in a podcast interview.

Iverson wasn't defeated by his practice rant.

Even though severe critiques followed the outburst, Iverson managed to recover and continue thriving in his NBA journey. Instead of letting the negative feedback shape his legacy, he channeled it into fuel for success, aiming to silence those who doubted him. Driven by steadfast resolve, “The Answer” dedicated himself fully to improving his game, demonstrating an extraordinary commitment during matches.

Although AI might not have shown up consistently during practices, those who really knew him acknowledged his zeal and dedication once the games began. Every time he took the court, Iverson poured all of himself into each play, bringing such intense energy that it mesmerized spectators and quieted critics alike.

Roosters Coach Defends Exit Calls: Tupouniua's Controversy Continues in May

categories: , , ,

Trent Robinson maintains that the Sydney Roosters made the correct decision in letting go of in-form players Terrell May and Sitili Tupouniua, with the coach standing firm despite a challenging beginning to the NRL season.

On Thursday, Robinson announced that Hugo Savala has been named as the Roosters' fourth rookie set to make his debut in their round-two match against Penrith. Prop Lindsay Collins will be absent from this game due to illness.

In 2024, the Roosters tapped May and Tupouniua on the shoulder, and they both stood out in their first match for their new clubs.

May ran for the most metres of any forward in Wests Tigers' tight loss to Newcastle before Tupouniua had two tries from the bench as Canterbury held off St George Illawarra.

The performances coincided with the weekend when the Roosters became the first team since 2009 to allow 50 points in round one, losing 50-14 against Brisbane at their own ground.

Analysts predict a potential decline in performance for the consistent challengers this season due to the exits of Luke Keary, Joey Manu, Joseph Akuuse Su'aaliili, and Jared Warea-Hargreaves.

However, the Roosters remained steadfast in their decision to willingly include May and Tupouniua in the departure to create opportunities for younger players to secure consistent spots in the senior team.

"Definitely," Robinson said.

People will have their views on that, which is okay. However, that decision was ours, and we are firm about our direction.

Robinson was delighted to witness his previous students excelling at new places.

"Often, you continue to stay in touch with many of the players who depart," he stated.

You consistently hope they perform excellently, to bring out their finest since you observe what transpires beyond the player’s performance—more than just what happens on the pitch.

The Roosters won't find things getting simpler following their defeat at the hands of the Broncos, as they face an even tougher challenge on Friday against Penrith, who haven’t lost to them in their past ten matches.

The Roosters will have to confront Premiership rivals Brisbane and Penrith twice more before they get their first week off in round 10.

However, Robinson was not convinced that the Roosters should anticipate a decline in their performance this season following the loss of over 1000 games worth of experience during the summer.

He stated, 'I prefer not to take that stance; I believe it’s not an appropriate perspective.'

It's important to be truthful about your current situation, yet avoid predicting how tough the future might be.

I'm certain we will enhance our performance every month.

Robinson has already backed up his talk with action by giving NRL debuts to Salesi Foketi, Rob Toia, and Taylor Losalu following the departures of May and Tupouniua.

Up next for the team, homegrown player Savala progressed from the junior ranks as a half-back but might also see some action in the forward line when facing the Panthers.

"He's moved from the wings to the front row in every training session we've had, giving him the ability to sit on the bench tomorrow evening," Robinson stated.

The 194-centimetre tall 22-year-old has slim chances of playing in the halves unless either Sandon Smith or Chad Townsend gets hurt during their match against the Panthers.

"Training him has been wonderful; he’s injected so much vitality into our team," Robinson stated.

Billy Smith, an unlucky center recovering from hip and ankle injuries, will come back through the NSW Cup on Saturday.
