SNL Honors Val Kilmer in a Star-Studded Saturday Night Tribute

Saturday Night Live honored the late Val Kilmer, who passed away on April 1 at the age of 65 due to pneumonia.

The versatile actor, known for both drama and comedy, had previously hosted the late-night program on December 9, 2000, with musical guest U2, during which he even parodied his character Iceman from the original Top Gun.

The Juilliard-educated Kilmer, cherished for his broad spectrum as a multifaceted actor and his authentic persona, died earlier this week Following an earlier diagnosis and recovery from throat cancer, which left a lasting change on his vocal quality, he became recognized for his prominent roles in movies such as The Doors, The Saint, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Batman Forever, Tombstone, Thunderheart, Willow and his last credit, Top Gun: Maverick.

Condolences flooded in from throughout the sector in the days that followed, including from colleagues. Saturday Night Live and his close companion Will Forte, who wrote an essay of reflection in Vulture. 八代目尾上菊五郎＆六代目菊之助の襲名彩る祝幕が決定

5月に八代目尾上菊五郎、六代目菊之助をそれぞれ襲名する歌舞伎俳優、尾上菊之助（47）と長男、尾上丑之助（11）の襲名披露興行を彩る特別な引幕「祝幕」が30日、決定した。

東京・銀座の歌舞伎座で行われる「團菊祭五月大歌舞伎」（5月2～27日）は日本画の巨匠、田渕俊夫氏、「六月大歌舞伎」（6月2～27日）は日本美術院院友で鎌倉女子大准教授、大河原典子氏が手がける。

また、「團菊祭」の祝幕は株式会社長谷萬、「六月大歌舞伎」は世界的高級ジュエリーブランド、ティファニーがサポートすることも決まった。

今回の襲名への思いを体現した祝幕は後日お披露目される。

As his surname suggests, it was in a Polish (and very Catholic) family that little Ric was born in 1944 in Baltimore (Maryland).

Orville Peek Unmasks as Cabaret’s Emcee on Broadway: “This Role Isn’t About Me”

When Orville Peck makes his debut as the Emcee in Broadway’s "Cabaret at the KitKatClub" later this month, he will not be wearing his trademark mask.

The alternative country singer, who has kept his identity concealed behind his stage character by never showing his face in public, verified the information during an interview with the New York Times on Monday.

The mask is integral to how I express myself both as an artist and as a person," Peck stated. "However, I’m here primarily to portray this character and aim to bring respect, honesty, and ideally a strong performance to it. This isn’t about me. My intention is not to turn it into ‘The Orville Peck Show.’

Following his first studio release, "Pony," from 2019, Peck has consistently worn various types of face coverings, although their form and dimensions vary. However, this pattern will shift when he takes on the role of Sally Bowles opposite Eva Noblezada in "Cabaret."

“I wouldn’t have done this for just anything,” Peck shared with the Times. “However, this might be my most beloved musical ever.”

He will take over from Adam Lambert, who is presently starring in the revived version of "Cabaret" on Broadway starting March 31 until July 20. Speaking to In January, following the announcement of his Broadway debut, Peck stated that playing the eccentric Emcee had been a lifelong aspiration for him.

He mentioned that he came from acting and theater backgrounds, and many consider this to be a highly sought-after part in musical theatre due to its interpretive nature and remarkable character.

As reported by The New York Times, which got an early look at Peck’s rehearsals, his portrayal of the Emcee seems inspired by his background in Canada's punk scene. According to Erik Piepenburg from The Times, he appeared “less like a flashy German host introducing visitors to a Berlin club and more akin to Henry Rollins from Black Flag urging crowds into a mosh pit back around 1984,” giving off quite a different vibe than expected.

"Berdoalah untuk kami dan tim @aksibersatu dalam perjuangan memperoleh hak-hak yang lebih baik atas usaha dan kerja keras para penyair lama serta pencipta lagu generasi akan datang," demikian tulis Denny.

Sebagaimana telah diketahui, isu royalti lagu menjadi perhatian utama usai Agnez Mo digugat oleh AriBias.

Agnez Mo secara resmi dihukum bersalah oleh Pengadilan Niaga Jakarta Pusat lantaran menyanyikan lagu "Bilang Saja" tanpa mendapatkan izin dari Ari Bias.

Dengan keputusan tersebut, Agnez Mo dihukum denda sebesar Rp 1,5 miliar.

Agnes Mo mengajukan banding terhadap keputusan itu.

Pemerintah berencana menyatukan sejumlah musisi guna mendiskusikan permasalahan royalti musik usai Lebaran.
