Ticket Act Advances as House Committee Gives Approval

With broad backing from both parties, the Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing Act (TICKET Act) is now one step nearer to being enacted into law.

The lawmakers officially approved this recent iteration during a House Energy and Commerce committee markup session today. Almost all participating representatives supported the reintroduced TICKET Act, which is gaining momentum in the Senate as well.

(Apart from this four-hour session, the House committee also reviewed another 25 bills, including the American Music Tourism Act.)

For those who have been tracking the legislation’s long path, this likely isn’t surprising. Prior to being removed from a spending bill at the end of last year, the TICKET Act was approved with strong support in the House.

We've spent quite a few years working on this legislation — it's been around for about two years," Representative Jan Schakowsky stated during today’s hearing. "We shouldn’t face any issues at present because we’re aware that the House of Representatives has approved this bill almost entirely without opposition. Additionally, we’ve consistently had supporters from both sides of the aisle.

The most significant aspect of the TICKET Act is that it would require full disclosure pricing. This means that ticket platforms must show prices inclusive of fees from the very beginning.

Beyond the corridors of Congress, numerous stakeholders have shown support for this crucial provision, as well as the bill overall. At the forefront of these supporters is Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster; indications point towards the leading event organizer potentially gaining advantages from this legislation.

Regardless, the brief TICKET Act would additionally prohibit speculative ticket listings, which refers to advertisements for tickets that the sellers do not genuinely own. However, potential loopholes appear quite easy to navigate around.

As long as the relevant listings are appropriately marked, ticket marketplaces can continue to permit the sale of services To acquire still unobtained passes, the TICKET Act’s text indicates this. In other terms, it seems that the bill won’t completely ban speculative tickets.

A different part of the legislation outlines strengthened rules for ticket refunds in cases where events are rescheduled or cancelled. Additionally, the TICKET Act mandates that the FTC produce a report on the underenforced BOTS Act.

(President Trump’s executive order issued on March 31 directs the FTC to "strictly enforce" the BOTS Act. Additionally, at the start of 2025, the MAIN Event Ticketing Act was reintroduced; essentially, this legislation aims to strengthen the enforcement capabilities of the BOTS Act.)

In a statement shared with DMN, the National Consumers League applauded the TICKET Act as “the solution that millions of fans have been seeking.”

“This bill is the solution that millions of fans have been seeking to finally get rid of hidden junk fees, crack down on predatory ticket resale practices, and guarantee refunds in the event of event postponements and cancellations,” VP of public policy, telecommunications, and fraud John Breyault said in part.

Who exactly is Mad Scientist Monster? If you’re searching for this character, The Masked Singer If you're looking for spoilers and hints, you've landed at the perfect spot! Keep reading to discover all the details about this competitor, as well as our guess regarding which renowned star might be concealed behind the mask.

Gold Derby's predicted winner for Mad Scientist Monster is... Brian Kelley from the Grammy-nominated country band Florida Georgia Line ! Don’t take our word for it? Let’s go through each clue we have gathered so far, one at a time:

Audio Clues

In Week 1, Mad Scientist Monster shared his thoughts about being called such: “The title of Mad Scientist Monster suits me well since one needs to embrace madness, continue with experiments, and constantly reshape oneself—reasons why I am where I am now. Life often leads us to believe we’ve cracked the code; things should simplify from then on. For instance, I was heading toward becoming top-notch within my domain. People were eager to bring me aboard due to my abilities. However, as soon as an opportunity arose, disaster struck instead. Instead of moving forward, they pushed me aside. This nearly shattered me mentally, yet amidst this turmoil, something novel emerged—a fresh project began bubbling up inside me. Remember, each move brings counter-moves too. In response to adversity, I transformed our reality fundamentally. That’s how I discovered my true calling. Thus, contrary to belief, I’m not truly insane—I merely feel some frustration. Therefore, stick around as chances are quite good that I’ll leave a lasting impression.”

Kelley competed in collegiate baseball at Daytona State College and Florida State University. He attracted interest from several professional teams as well. However, when his playtime decreased significantly, leading him to spend more time on the sidelines, Kelley channeled his energy into songwriting. This passion for music soon became his primary focus, steering him towards a career in the industry full-time.

During Week 2, Mad Scientist Monster stated, “Everyone adores a muscular heartthrob from a boy-band, yet true depth lies beyond mere appearances—essentially, these groups thrive due to their chemistry. And let me tell you, I've experienced this firsthand. It happened during a joyous autumn night when we celebrated Friendsgiving together. As we exchanged dishes around the abundant dinner table, our fingers touched lightly as we reached for the cranberry sauce, instantly igniting a spark between us. At that very moment, I felt certain she would be my spouse one day. Time went on until a scorchingly hot summer afternoon brought us back into each other’s lives again. With every tune I sang, her cheeks flushed with warmth like Bunsen flames burning bright. To her, I vowed unwavering commitment—to stand beside her through thick and thin. Here now stands a grand ballad dedicated to the lady of those vows—a tribute to my beloved wife.”

Kelly encountered his future spouse, Brittany, at a Thanksgiving gathering when they were each involved with different partners. A number of years afterward, they crossed paths once more post-breakup, and feelings reignited between them.

During the Group C finals, Mad Scientist Monster stated emphatically, “The reason I picked the 2010s is simple—they were incredible. This era saw electric vehicles hitting streets and smartphones flooding markets; for me personally, these years marked some of the finest moments in my career. Everything felt achievable back then—I garnered all accolades save for the elusive Nobel Prize. However, this wasn’t a solo endeavor—our collaboration brought us great success initially but eventually fizzled due to diverging philosophies about living life. While I sought fresh paths forward with our experiments intact, those ideas remained untested. Thus, I embarked upon an independent journey. Initially, anger consumed me, yet time marched onward—and after striking out independently, I discovered immense satisfaction from being solely responsible for my outcomes. Through reflection, I grasped a crucial truth: Change can occur within relationships—even friendships—but such shifts shouldn’t be feared. Just as not everyone will embrace your presence, neither should their opinions dictate yours—as long as self-love remains steadfast.”

As members of the duo Florida Georgia Line, Kelley and his fellow bandmember, Tyler Hubbard , unveiled their debut EP, Anything Like Me In 2010, prior to their debut studio album, Cheers for the Great Moments In 2012, they made their debut. During the following seven years, the duo accumulated numerous awards such as those from ACM, CMA, American Music, Billboard, CMT, and People's Choice. By 2022, Kelley and Hubbard chose to go separate ways and venture into individual music projects.

Visual Clues

During Mad Scientist Monster’s video segments, on-screen prompts featured the following elements: a device for measuring baseball velocity, an aquarium, an old-fashioned wall clock, a constructed sand castle, a ocean liner, and the sun symbol from Season 4 (linking to LeAnn Rimes ?) A pickup truck, and a chalkboard with the message "Love Yourself."

Once more, the baseball reference acknowledges Kelley's days as a college athlete. The fish tank alludes to his 2021 track titled "Fish All Day." Meanwhile, the cruise ship symbolizes Florida Georgia Line’s 2012 smash hit “Cruise.” Additionally, the sandcastle might just serve as an homage to many of his ocean-inspired ventures, such as his tune “Sunday Service at the Shore” or perhaps even his album. Sunshine State of Mind That truck mentioned in the clue pack references Florida Georgia Line’s song titled "New Truck." Additionally, the phrase "Love Yourself" comes from their collaboration with another artist. Bebe Rexha , "Meant to Be."

In-Person Clues

After performing "Unwell," Mad Scientist Monster stated, "This means a lot to me because it allows me to reinvent how I present myself to my audience in a completely new light."

Kelley has been reconnecting with his audience as a solo performer since Florida Georgia Line ended in 2022. He most definitely hasn’t taken the stage as a large purple monster!

Nick Cannon 'S T-shirt launcher was utilized during Week 2 to fire off Mad Scientist Monster merchandise towards the judges. "Being awarded alongside both Backstreet Boys and BTS is truly an honor.""

Similar to how the Backstreet Boys and BTS have had great success, Kelley was part of another top-selling band called Florida Georgia Line. They also joined forces with the Backstreet Boys to perform "Everybody." CMT Crossroads They collaborated on a song called "God, Your Mama, and Me."

The Masked Singer The time machine revealed that Mad Scientist Monster collaborated with a participant from Season 4. Kelley joined forces with a member of the Backstreet Boys. Nick Carter (Season 4's Crocodile) on CMT Crossroads .

[diwida.news >=황선용 기자]

해당 곡은 'Standing Next to You', 'Seven', '3D', 'Left and Right', 그리고 앨범 'GOLDEN'이다.

이어 'Standing Next to You', 'Seven', '3D', 'TOO MUCH' 등 네 곡이 영국 오피셜 '톱 100'에 2주 연속으로 동시 차트인하며, 솔로 아티스트로서 독보적인 저력을 입증했다.

Why Bob Marley remains a human rights icon

Bob Marley made reggae famous around the world. The music genre's messages of peace are more important today than ever.

When Bob Marley took to the stage in front of 8,000 people in the Cologne sports hall in June 1980, he was already struggling with the cancer that would eventually take his life. But he remained as charismatic as ever, captivating the audience as he sang "Redemption Song" and other favorite tunes.

Less than a year later, on May 11, 1981, Bob Marley died of complications related to melanoma . He would have turned 80 on February 6, 2025.

Marley brought reggae and its messages to the world. He helped make the genre so famous that it was even added to UNESCO's list of intangible Cultural Heritage .

Indeed, Marley's songs will probably be playing in reggae bars in seemingly every corner of the world even now. The legacy of the beloved Jamaican singer was also celebrated in the 2024 movie "Bob Marley: One Love," based on his life.

The political and spiritual messages of his songs are just as pertinent in light of the social turmoils of today.

A follower of Rastafari

Reggae has been undeniably influenced by Rastafari , the religion and political movement Bob Marley began to explore when he was 22 years old. The relatively new religion developed in Jamaica when Haile Selassie I was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia on November 2, 1930. A few years earlier, Jamaican activist Marcus Garvey had predicted the coronation of a powerful black king in Africa who would bring black liberation.

The Rastafari movement takes its name from Selassie's original name, Ras Tafari Makonnen. "Ras" means "prince" in Amharic, which is spoken in Ethiopia. Most believers saw Selassie as the second coming of Jesus Christ . Much of the Rastafarian faith is based on the Bible. Referencing the New Testament book of Revelation, Rastafarians await their return to Zion, the symbolic name for Africa used in the Bible. Tenets of the religion include living a life as close to nature as possible, and espousing the principles of love and peace, justice, unity and equality.

Rastafari opposes all forms of political, cultural and religious subjugation of people and is a worldwide movement with followers of all races. Today, an estimated 700,000 to one million people practice the religion.

Contrary to popular belief, smoking marijuana is not necessarily part of the Rastafarian religion, although many espouse it as a way to expand consciousness.

Bob Marley: The reggae ambassador

Bob Marley, who is considered the first international superstar from a country in the so-called Global South, also made reggae, the music of the Rastafarians, famous around the globe.

Reggae music originated in Jamaica in the 1960s. Its focus on social justice, as well as Rastafarian spiritual themes, also resonated with other popular folk music around the world at the time, such as folk rock in the US. Reggae took inspirations from existing genres like mento, ska, soul and rocksteady.

In fact, when Bob Marley and the Wailers came together in 1963, they initially performed ska and dancehall tunes. Yet they eventually turned to reggae, and in 1973 they released their album "Catch a Fire" worldwide.

The up-stroke rhythm guitar and hypnotic bass lines turned out to be ideal for spreading positive messages of peace and love. When Eric Clapton covered "I Shot the Sheriff" in 1974, Bob Marley and the Wailers were put squarely in the international spotlight.

Songs of resistance

Rastafarian spirituality is a reccurring theme in Bob Marley's songs. But while his lyrics include religious references, they also depict the real-world struggles of discriminated minorities, and the history of slavery and injustice. It's no surprise many of his songs have become associated with resistance and the fight against oppression around the globe.

"Get Up, Stand Up" was written after Bob Marley visited Haiti and was shocked by the poverty of the people living there under the Duvalier dictatorship (1957-1986). The lyrics call on people to fight for their rights and trust their own judgment. "Get Up, Stand Up" is considered the unofficial anthem of the NGO Amnesty International.

In the 1979 song "Zimbabwe," Marley calls on Africans to liberate Zimbabwe, which had been under British colonial rule. Marley played the song live at Zimbabwe's independence celebrations in 1980 and it became the country's unofficial national anthem.

Marley's legacy: 'Redemption Song'

One of Bob Marley's most-famous tracks, "Redemption Song," was a drastic stylistic departure from many of his previous tunes, leading many to wonder if he knew it would be the last song he released before his death — a kind of farewell message to the world. In it, he quotes the Rasta prophet Marcus Garvey, who said in a speech in 1937: "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our mind."

And indeed, Marley and his legacy live on and continue to give hope to people around the world.

Reviving 'Lohengrin' for the Liceu: Katharina Wagner Shares Its Deep Significance

Being named Wagner can be simultaneously a boon and a burden, acknowledges the great-granddaughter of the renowned German composer.

Katharina Wagner states that she has learned to cope with both the advantages and disadvantages inherited from her renowned ancestor.

A distinguished artistic director in her own merit, Wagner is set to showcase 'Lohengrin'. Barcelona’s Teatre Liceu from 17 -30 March.

This operatic love story revolves around its titular protagonist and draws inspiration from an old German medieval tale. A enigmatic rider appears via a vessel steered by a swan to aid Elsa von Brabant, a high-born lady facing adversity. They wed, yet he imposes a ban on questioning his past; eventually, she breaks this vow out of curiosity, causing him to depart forevermore.

This piece is most recognized for its prelude—the famous Bridal Chorus—that frequently accompanies wedding ceremonies, along with the Grail Story. Lohengrin serves as the central figure; however, Elsa exhibits a robust personality as well.

Wagner's production in Barcelona will include an unexpected turn in the narrative, however, Euronews Culture has been bound to confidentiality...

The opera made its debut in 1850; however, Wagner couldn’t be present at the premiere because he was in exile following his involvement in the May Rebellion of Dresden, which was among the final wave of revolts sweeping through various parts of Europe in 1848.

In 1861, the composer witnessed a complete performance of his work. More than 150 years later, his great-granddaughter still feels that the opera preserves much of its initial allure. "This piece holds deep significance for numerous individuals," says Katharina when speaking with Euronews Culture from her workspace within the Teatre Liceu. She adds poetically, "One could view it like a fairy tale where the protagonist simply emerges. Yet, we see him appearing for a particular purpose."

He states, 'Don’t inquire about my identity, and don’t question my origins.' This is peculiar, wouldn't you say? The work also revolves around themes of trust; however, it’s quite odd that such questions should be off-limits. Who exactly is this individual? From what place did he originate? What schemes might he have in mind?

The artistic director holds numerous favorites from her great-grandfather’s extensive repertoire of works: "My preferences vary depending on how I feel personally. I particularly love 'Tristan and Isolde' as well as 'Parsifal.' Both pieces boast magnificent composition and splendid melodies," she remarks.

Opera enthusiasts will recognize Wagner's renowned works, yet numerous individuals might also recall the composer’s pieces from movies like Apocalypse Now , featuring the renowned Ride of the Valkyriers.

Katharina mentions that she often hears people say Wagner is known for composing lengthy operas. She expresses her wish that more individuals would make an effort to watch an opera as they offer a unique experience.

The individual, who is 46 years old, serves as the artistic director for the Bayreuth Festival, an annual event dedicated to showcasing the works of her great-grandfather. Additionally, she resides in the German town of Bayreuth, where much focus is placed on honoring the legacy of this composer.

The upcoming year will signify the 150th anniversary of the festival, promising an extraordinary celebration. This will also be the inaugural performance of 'Rienzi' at Bayreuth. Additionally, Christian Thielemann conducting 'The Ring Cycle' will be one of the major highlights.

The festivities will commence with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. Regarding the Wagner surname, Katharina comments that it is a mixed blessing: "The issue is, when you come from that family, you have no choice over it. Certainly, at times it can be advantageous, but at others, it can be detrimental." Indeed, the Wagner name has faced backlash due to the composer’s documented antisemitism and his notorious supporter, Adolf Hitler.

In 2009, Katharina mentioned that there was a duty to address their family’s ties to the Nazis. She announced that her own personal archive as well as those belonging to certain relatives would be accessible for examination. However, private records from other branches of the family remain inaccessible to the general public.

In 1850, Wagner authored an essay titled "Judaism in Music," which was viewed as having antisemitic undertones. Adolf Hitler endorsed the Bayreuth Festival and became friends with Winifred Wagner, who was born in Britain and married to Wagner's son, Siegfried. Their relationship enabled the festival to maintain considerable autonomy throughout the Nazi era. Following World War II, Winifred Wagner faced charges for her association with the Nazis.

"Richard Wagner penned appalling essays about Jewish individuals. Naturally, I don’t endorse those opinions," states Katharina, unafraid to address her family’s troubling history: "No, I’m not hesitant when it comes to facing the past; it holds significant importance for me. Absolutely, I have no weariness regarding this matter. Not at all. Moreover, I am aware that some members of my family share this sentiment," she explains.

When it comes to music, Katharina genuinely enjoys staging operas: "It’s essential to love what you do professionally. And I certainly do. To be frank, the aspect of my job that excites me the most as a director happens during those initial meetings where we discuss our vision with just a few people," she shares with a grin.

At the conclusion of the day, all the small details and components come together, allowing us to build the stage collectively. Following that, we add the direction, vocalists, lighting, and attire. It’s quite an amazing experience. In my opinion, performing collaboratively on stage offers some of the most rewarding instances in this profession.

Born on March 23: Ric Ocasek of The Cars — Inside His Iconic Legacy

As his surname suggests, it was in a Polish (and very Catholic) family that little Ric was born in 1944 in Baltimore (Maryland).

Очень впечатлен пионерами рок-н-ролла, такими как Buddy Holly (чье влияние можно услышать в Theصند Cars' "My Best Friend's Girl" in 1978), he was lucky enough to have a grandma who gave him his first guitar at the age of 10. It wasn't electric yet, but everything has a beginning.

In the mid-60s, after moving to Ohio and dropping out of school, he met Benjamin Orzechowski and experienced his first musical thrills with him. A decade later, they formed The Cars together. As lead singer and principal songwriter, Ric Otcasek The Cars.

Первый одноименный альбом вышел в 1978 году и содержал треки такие как "Good Times Roll" , "Just What I Needed" , "My Best Friend's Girl" or "Moving In Stereo" , по-прежнему сияет ярко в пантеоне американского рока. Последующие альбомы "Candy-O" (1979), "Panorama" (1980) and "Shake It Up" (1981) не подвели, но им не удалось вернуть ту же яркую искру.

"Heartbeat City" (1984) and "Door To Door" (1987),

"This Side Of Paradise" (1986). Suicide , Bad Brains , Weezer , Nada Surf , and also Bad Religion .

Orville Peek Unmasks as Cabaret’s Emcee on Broadway: “This Role Isn’t About Me”

When Orville Peck makes his debut as the Emcee in Broadway’s "Cabaret at the KitKatClub" later this month, he will not be wearing his trademark mask.

The alternative country singer, who has kept his identity concealed behind his stage character by never showing his face in public, verified the information during an interview with the New York Times on Monday.

The mask is integral to how I express myself both as an artist and as a person," Peck stated. "However, I’m here primarily to portray this character and aim to bring respect, honesty, and ideally a strong performance to it. This isn’t about me. My intention is not to turn it into ‘The Orville Peck Show.’

Following his first studio release, "Pony," from 2019, Peck has consistently worn various types of face coverings, although their form and dimensions vary. However, this pattern will shift when he takes on the role of Sally Bowles opposite Eva Noblezada in "Cabaret."

“I wouldn’t have done this for just anything,” Peck shared with the Times. “However, this might be my most beloved musical ever.”

He will take over from Adam Lambert, who is presently starring in the revived version of "Cabaret" on Broadway starting March 31 until July 20. Speaking to In January, following the announcement of his Broadway debut, Peck stated that playing the eccentric Emcee had been a lifelong aspiration for him.

He mentioned that he came from acting and theater backgrounds, and many consider this to be a highly sought-after part in musical theatre due to its interpretive nature and remarkable character.

As reported by The New York Times, which got an early look at Peck’s rehearsals, his portrayal of the Emcee seems inspired by his background in Canada's punk scene. According to Erik Piepenburg from The Times, he appeared “less like a flashy German host introducing visitors to a Berlin club and more akin to Henry Rollins from Black Flag urging crowds into a mosh pit back around 1984,” giving off quite a different vibe than expected.
