"The department stated that when the deputy requested to talk with those suspected of possessing the weapon, a 14-year-old boy stepped aside,” they explained in an official release. “Upon trying to apprehend him, the youth resorted to physical aggression against the deputy, resulting in a short altercation and the application of force.”
The incident was captured on video by someone’s cellphone. The footage depicts the deputy slamming the child onto the pavement and then proceeding to punch the teenager's face multiple times while instructing him to place his hands behind his back.
The investigators did not discover a firearm. Nonetheless, according to deputies, they located a knife on another teenager within the group prior to the deputy commencing physical force against the 14-year-old. The Sheriff's Department charged the other youth alleged to have possessed the knife along with his parents.
The deputies took custody of the injured teenager due to charges of resisting law enforcement, and subsequently, they admitted him into a youth detention center.
