Aussie Woman Rants About Frustrating Restaurant Habit

  • FURTHER READING: Strange cause for the crowd gathering along the seaside thoroughfare

A pregnant woman experiencing 'pregnancy rage' has lashed out at another woman due to frustration over a frequently encountered and irritating behavior at fast-food establishments.

Maggie had been queuing for 20 minutes to place an order at a 'sushi noodle joint' located in Geelong, which is situated southwest of Melbourne. Melbourne , on Monday.

After observing that a lady and her companion remained unsure about their orders while standing at the counter, she mentioned that her tolerance had reached its limit.

It seemed that the companion desired beef noodles with satay sauce, however, the woman promptly intervened to inform the staff that he actually does not enjoy satay.

Maggie claimed in a TikTok The lady told her companion, "I believe when we visited this place previously, it was too warm for your liking. Do you still desire it? Alright then, let's order the satay."

By this stage, Maggie had seen red and simply wished to swiftly grab her two dumplings and leave the place.

She then says, “I’ll take either the chicken or the beef.” She continues, “The chicken seems more appealing; I’ll go with that,” she explained.

She asks the woman, "Are those thick, plump noodles truly springy and chewy, or are they rather dried out and sitting around for hours?"

'I’m thinking, “It’s around 12:30 PM. How long does ‘all day’ mean to you?”'

And this Chinese woman says, Had you visited this place earlier? Here are the noodles; their flavor remains exactly as it has always been.

The lady subsequently opted for the thick noodles, yet by now, Maggie had grown exasperated from her time being squandered.

She mentioned that she reached her limit when the woman took as long as "it would take four people to order" and proceeded to order two dim sims with sweet and sour sauce out of turn.

Maggie mentioned that the woman responded with, "Pardon me, but I am currently in the process of placing my order."

The pregnant woman stated that the lady was not just managing the entire queue, but also upset the employees at the counter by asking about the noodles.

'You've had 20 minutes to look at what you wanted to do. You haven't done it and you're being selfish,' she told the woman.

Maggie then grabbed her dim sims after paying, leaving the woman in disbelief.

'I walk out of there and this woman grabs me on the arm on the way out and she goes, "Thank you. Jesus Christ, we need to work on line etiquette."

'She was like, "You go in your car and have your dim dims, love, and feel better". She was like, "People like that need to be told."'

Maggie shared another video reflecting on the incident, revealing she had no regrets about it.

'This morning, I was thinking about it and it was aggressive and I probably made the situation worse, but I am angry when I'm pregnant, I have zero tolerance,' she said.

'I got into a fight at the sushi noodle joint… feeling good about it.'

Many social media users supported Maggie, asserting that the woman at the counter ought to have been more aware of the situation.

"One suggestion is allowing the person behind you to proceed if you're unsure about your choice," someone commented.

"Seriously, hunger-induced pregnancy anger takes things to a whole new level. For a moment, you transform into someone unrecognizable," one of them commented.

'A third person chimed in: Make up your mind while you wait! Avoid delaying others and treat your partner as an equal, not like a child.'

Others supported the woman's behavior, asserting that Maggie needed to exhibit greater patience.

"I beg to differ. Individuals should be allowed to spend as much time as they need when placing their order," another commented.

They stood in queue just as others did. It would take merely an additional 30 seconds to two minutes for them to come to a decision.

Junior League Transforms BPD Locker Room Into a Haven, Honoring Fallen Officers

The unveiling of the revamped women’s locker room at the Beaumont Police Department turned out to be an emotional affair, marking its transformation into a tranquil haven called The Legacy Lounge.

Due to the efforts of the Junior League of Beaumont, the department’s old 1970s-era locker room has been entirely refurbished.

Once a bare room adorned with brick walls, metal lockers, and wooden panels, this area has transformed into a haven exclusively for women officers.

They have thoroughly updated and renovated a space originally constructed in the '70s that still felt like it belonged to that era," stated Officer Haley Morrow. "It used to be nothing more than a brick-walled chamber with some lockers inside.

Currently, the area features new wallpaper, comfortable seating, yoga mats, and a marble vanity, establishing a soothing ambiance for officers to rejuvenate.

"There's a couch, a table, and even yoga mats," Morrow described, highlighting the additional features.

The renovation initiative was led by the Junior League of Beaumont, with their members gathering funds and completing an Amazon wishlist with assistance from the local community.

"They entered the neighborhood and encouraged our community members to contribute to an Amazon wishlist," Morrow mentioned additionally.

At the core of this initiative is a deep sense of commitment. This space pays tribute to two deceased officers, Lisa Beaulieu and Sheena Dae Yarbrough-Powell, which gave additional significance to the ceremony revealing it.

"We genuinely thank the Junior League of Beaumont for refurbishing this space specifically for Lisa and Sheena. I am certain they will adore this room and have a great time in it," stated Samantha, who is a relative of one of the deceased officers.

Sheila Yarbrough-Powell, the mother of Officer Yarbrough-Powell, expressed her thankfulness and emotions during the ceremony.

“I believe women tend to absorb more emotions, so having a space where they can relax seems fantastic. It exceeded my expectations,” stated Yarbrough-Powell.

The Legacy Lounge serves not just as a practical area but also as a symbol of respect, remembrance, and support for the female officers serving in the Beaumont Police Department.

Bangladeshi Women Athletes Reflect on Historic Official Visit

Dhaka, April 25 – Recently, four female athletes from Bangladesh arrived back after accompanying Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus on an official trip to Qatar. They spoke about their experiences with journalists at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka on Friday.

This landmark visit marked the first occasion when women athletes participated alongside the head of government as official representatives during an international mission.

Football players Afida Khandakar and Shaheda Akhter Ripa, along with cricket athletes Sumaiya Akhter and Sharmin Sultana, showcased Bangladesh's increasing involvement in female athletics.

On Friday, following their return home, Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder presented the athletes to the media.

"They visited Qatar's sports facilities, met with senior sports officials, and were interviewed by the local media. It was a completely new experience for them," Azad Majumder said.

Sharmin Sultana, who was among the two female cricketers participating in this visit, mentioned that the tour held great importance for them.

Sharmin told the press, "We toured two prominent stadiums; one previously held the men’s FIFA World Cup and currently focuses on women’s soccer. Additionally, we got to converse with the initiator of the Qatar Foundation, an organization that promotes women’s athletics."

"It was truly an honor. We received congratulations from people all through our journey," said Sumaiya Akhter, the other cricket player.

Shaheda Akter Ripa pointed out that the visiting delegation addressed the difficulties faced in managing injuries among women athletes in Bangladesh throughout their discussions.

He mentioned that they brought up the topic of inadequate rehabilitation centers for female athletes," referring back to their discussion with the prominent representative from the Qatar Foundation.

Afida Khandakar, the female football player, stated that it was a significant accomplishment for them and for women's sports in Bangladesh to journey as official delegates alongside the Chief Adviser.

This trip formed part of Bangladesh’s official representation at the Earthna Summit held in Doha. Following their conclusion in Qatar, the Chief Adviser proceeded to the Vatican for the papal funeral, as the newly deceased Pope had succumbed to a long battle with illness not long ago.

SMU Women's Basketball Aims for a Fast Turnaround Under New Leader Adia Barnes

UNIVERSITY PARK — In the past year, SMU has demonstrated a strong dedication to advancing their athletic development.

It has been showcased through various avenues, including its affiliation with the ACC, significant historical fund-raising initiatives, and several high-profile recruitments. President-elect Jay Hartzell to Athletic Director Damon Evans Even the men's basketball coach, Andy Enfield.

On Wednesday evening, SMU demonstrated that same dedication once more, new head coach for women’s basketball, Adia Barnes At Moody Coliseum — a significant investment in women’s athletics, particularly in women’s basketball, an area that continues to hold substantial growth potential for the Mustangs.

When reflecting on SMU and the possibilities before us, one thought consistently comes to mind: thinking ambitiously and acting courageously. This was precisely what we aimed to do during our quest for a new women’s basketball coach," Evans stated at the event presenting Barnes. "We are fully committed to elevating women’s basketball here, setting unprecedented standards. My belief is that we can establish ourselves as one of the leading forces in collegiate women’s basketball nationwide.

For an extended period, SMU’s women’s basketball team has faced challenges in achieving on-court victories. Over the past decade, the Mustangs have only managed two winning seasons. Since 2008, they have not qualified for the NCAA Tournament. In their inaugural year as part of the ACC, they concluded at the bottom of the league standings, suffering defeats in all fourteen of their final conference matches.

Given their recent track record, the Mustangs seem quite distant from reaching the championship caliber that several other teams around the Hilltop are nearing. However, with Barnes taking charge, both she and the administration at SMU believe they have what it takes to find success much sooner than expected.

"Given her track record and the history she has in basketball, anyone like her would be well-prepared for the ACC," said SMU President R. Gerald Turner.

During her illustrious playing career, Barnes excelled both at Arizona—where she established 22 individual records and propelled the team into their inaugural NCAA Tournament in 1997—and in the WNBA, securing a championship with Seattle over her seven-year tenure in the league.

She enhanced her reputation as a coach by transforming her alma mater, Arizona, into a formidable team and guiding the Wildcats to the national championship game in 2021. There, they narrowly lost by one point to the dominant program at Stanford.

However, she departed from her previous institution to join SMU, and within just a few days in her new position, She has already added eight players to her team list. , including players who transferred via the portal and others who came with her from Arizona. Before delivering her introductory comments on Wednesday, she had nearly assembled an entire team.

She is also bringing her entire team from Arizona along with her, which includes her spouse Salvo Coppa, serving as an assistant coach for Arizona.

When you have a strong team supporting you, the possibilities are endless," she stated. "Together, we will achieve incredible feats here. I am thrilled to begin this journey.

Barnes mentioned that it has never been simpler to swiftly transform a women's college basketball program. On Wednesday, she made numerous references to this idea multiple times. How TCU transformed itself from one of the lowest-ranked teams in the Big 12 to an Elite Eight contender. Through the transfer portal, she emphasized that relationships and resources are crucial factors, noting that SMU holds promise in these areas.

It's like striking gold," Barnes stated. "The possibilities are immense. Whatever you can imagine, it seems capable of achieving it. If we get the appropriate team and adequate support, I believe there will be no boundaries.

However, aside from achieving victories on the basketball court, Barnes has demonstrated a strong commitment to expanding the sport within the local community. Under her leadership at Arizona, she consistently drew crowds ranging between 8,000 to 9,000 attendees, according to Evans. This enthusiasm extends particularly to attracting new talent from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Notably, she also recruited top recruit Jazzy Gipson, who initially pledged herself to Arizona before deciding to join SMU instead—following her coach and remaining nearer to her family.

Given the success of coaches like Barnes and Evans, who transformed Arizona and Maryland into well-known programs in women’s basketball, there’s potential for SMU to follow a comparable trajectory.

Evans stated, "She has experienced the typical peak. Currently, she is at the correct Hilltop," he explained confidently. "I am certain she will lead us back to our desired destination."

March Madness Mishap: The Sports Bra Turns Last Year’s Error Into a Bar Top Trend

The country's premier women's sports bar is turning around one of the mistakes from last year. NCAA Tournament .

The sports bra took control of the court with the inconsistently sized 3-point arcs This created a buzz during the women's tournament matches held in Portland, Oregon, in 2024, and led to its installation as a new bar surface.

Jenny Nguyen, the founder of Sports Bra, views the court as having drawn more focus to the women’s tournament, which has underscored that the women’s side can no longer remain an overlooked aspect.

And according to her, that is ultimately beneficial.

“As far as we’re concerned, commemorating it helps reshape the story,” Nguyen stated. “There’s something almost uplifting about that, akin to displaying it in a museum. Plus, where else would you showcase it but at the Sports Bra?”

In the previous year, when Portland was home to the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matches, the court featured uneven three-point lines, differing from one end to the other. roughly 9 inches shorter than standard size at its apex.

Before the lines were redone for the regional final match between UConn and Southern California, five games had taken place on the court. The NCAA stated that this error was due to a human mistake made by the firm responsible for setting up the venue.

The legal issues were merely part of a sequence of complications throughout the 2024 women's tournament.

In Spokane, Washington, the men’s and women’s opening-round games overlapped with a youth volleyball tournament. This led to some of the women’s teams being accommodated in hotels located across the state border in Idaho. The Utah women's team mentioned that during their stay there, players were subjected to racist abuse by a passerby .

Moreover, during an early round match in Raleigh, North Carolina, a referee was replaced at halftime due to a potential bias issue. In another instance, a player was removed from a game for similar reasons. remove a nose piercing .

This March Madness has seen little controversy regarding women's basketball, which Nguyen views positively for the development of women’s sports. This is part of what inspired her to transform the former playing surface into a bar countertop.

"We believe it's the most incredible tale ever told. However, some others may view it as the gravest error imaginable, one that merely commemorates a misstep and leaves a blemish on the competition," she stated.

The Sports Bra, launched in 2022, was the inaugural one of its kind. increasing number of sports bars tailored for women spreading nationwide Including "Rough & Tumble" in Seattle and "A Bar of Their Own" in Minneapolis, the Sports Bra aims to broaden its presence across more regions. The venture has received backing from Alexis Ohanian, a co-founder of Reddit and an original owner of Angel City FC in the NWSL.

Nguyen mentioned that parts of the notorious courthouse might also be included in those upcoming sites.

Like in 2021, when the disparity between the men's and women's weight rooms at the event prompted the NCAA to take action—these small but significant fights contribute to an improved experience for all female athletes and their teams. "It’s quite a rollercoaster," Nguyen stated, "but we're embracing it."

(Dragonflies and a Circular Pond)' 앞으로 자리를 잡고 포즈를 취하고 있습니다.

categories: , , , ,

Mereka kelihatan sangat bersemangat menyongsong kembalinya setelah bertahun-tahun hilang kontak.

Women Choosing Solitude: Embracing Single Life Amidst Constant Dating Demands

At the age of only 26, Hope Woodard came up with a term that inadvertently brought about significant changes in her life: Boysober.

In 2023, the comedian resided in New York and aspired to embody a specific kind of persona involved with a particular sort of partner who was seen in a certain light.

She spent most of her time on dating platforms, attending numerous initial meetings and engaging in hookup encounters. It seemed like she was relentlessly seeking male acknowledgment and finding affirmation through sexual experiences and emotional bonds.

She was desperately seeking connection and had finally connected with a man who seemed utterly indifferent and uncaring towards her. explains to the ABC podcast, Ladies We Need To Talk .

And have you ever confused dullness for intrigue? It quickly turned into a challenge of sorts: 'How can I get you to fancy me?'

The focus was solely on victory and getting selected. It shouldn’t have happened that at 27, I am fixated on a man as if I’m still 17.

Hope grew disillusioned with the dating scene. Eventually, she decided it was time for a change and realized she needed to clean up her act.

Hope opted for a break year, removed her dating applications, and embarked on what she referred to as her "Boysober" phase.

She mentions, 'I felt such a strong sense of control over my own body, my personal space, and my time.'

When I took a step back, I noticed how often I had agreed to things related to sex or romance with men simply to avoid hurting their feelings.

For the first time, I felt like 'No one gets to be more than just friends with me.'

She shared her stories online, and the phrase quickly gained traction. Before long, people began joining the movement known as Boysover.

The issue went beyond just changing the concept of priestly celibacy. For Hope, it was about abandoning an idea she'd held since her youth—that worth is measured through male acknowledgment, regardless of how insignificant, flawed, or indifferent that recognition might be.

She clarifies, 'No relationships formed through social media, no dating applications, and no former partners involved.'

The BoysOver Flowers journey considers how you approach love—not merely focusing on sex, intimacy, and romance—but also examining how you show self-love and care for those within your community. It’s about identifying which actions are beneficial and which ones might be causing harm.

Being single by choice

We reside in a community that still values coupledom . For numerous women, getting married and becoming a mother continue to be seen as the pinnacle achievements of a meaningful existence.

In the last half-century, Australia has changed dramatically from a society predominantly composed of married individuals to one where an increasing number of people opt for remaining unmarried.

According to a 2023 report from the Australian Institute of Family Studies, the number of lone-person homes in Australia is increasing. Many individuals are choosing to prioritize solo living over romantic partnerships and are instead enriching their lives through friendships, leisure activities, and individual pursuits.

This is part of an international pattern. The Pew Research Center analyzed U.S. census data and discovered that in 2019, 38 percent of adults between the ages of 25 and 54 lived alone or without a spouse or partner. This represents an increase from 29 percent in 1990.

From 2002 to 2018, the count of UK women younger than 70 years old who were unmarried and not part of a couple grew by approximately half a million.

For numerous women, 'Boysober' is not just a trendy slogan; it's a persistent truth.

Elizabeth Shaw, who serves as both a clinical psychologist and the CEO of Relationships Australia NSW Branch, states More individuals are beginning to challenge this notion. That idea suggests you find 'the one' in your early 20s and simply remain together for life.

Dr. Shaw mentions that a prevalent misunderstanding is the belief that many singles are quietly longing for their personal fairy tale romance.

She suggests that we are thoroughly accustomed to viewing being in a committed partnership as a reward.

A lone individual is typically portrayed as an unconventional figure…or perhaps the quintessential cat lady. I find none of these depictions particularly useful.

Living without one's "better half"

To dispel the notion that they are simply “cursed when it comes to relationships,” multiple women who have chosen to remain single shared their insights with the ABC’s podcast “Ladies We Need To Talk.” They highlighted how independent living can be highly fulfilling and frequently gets misinterpreted.

Several of them discussed the suffocating belief that women require an "other half" to feel whole.

Some discussed the difficulties of maintaining friendships when those friends start pairing up with partners, as they may end up prioritizing their romantic relationships over time.

When Andie Tall recounted her experiences to the podcast, she mentioned that during her 15-year stint as a singleton, she enjoyed having full control over her life without needing to alter her choices to align with someone else’s preferences.

Being single also helped diversify her social life.

She mentions that her circle of friends is quite varied, each having their own distinct set of interests.

Dr. Shaw echoes this sentiment, mentioning that she often encounters clients who find it challenging to form new friendships following a breakup since their previous connections were mostly with other couples.

She remarks that it’s incredible how numerous men and women exclusively have platonic friendships with each other.

Most of their close friends are pairs too, which means when one couple splits up, it really disrupts the whole group dynamic.

Dr. Shaw indicates that studies demonstrate women generally handle singledom more effectively than men do.

"That's because women are much better at having a whole lot of very rewarding social connections," she says.

That's why they thrive more as they benefit from nurturing relationships. In contrast, men do not bring people together to the same extent.

Living alone can be beneficial for you.

US social scientist Bella DePaulo scrutinizes the "entire myth" surrounding marriage, suggesting this notion portrays married individuals as "more content, robust, long-lived, and ethically superior."

Dr DePaulo states that research into unmarried individuals indicates that popular beliefs suggesting these persons are miserable and unwell until they meet their "soulmate" are largely "greatly overstated or entirely incorrect."

A study published in the Journal of Women's Health in 2017 revealed that older women undergoing divorce or separation tend to report improvements in their overall well-being.

"Recent research indicates that getting married doesn’t lead to improved health ... and individuals remain equally content or discontented as they were before marriage," according to Dr DePaulo.

Dr DePaulo mentions that individuals who are single usually engage more actively in civic groups and frequently volunteer within their communities.

"A study focusing on Australian women over 70 years old found that those who remained single throughout their lives and did not have children volunteered more often than those who had been married at some point," she explains.

If you’re not preoccupied with wondering, ‘When’s my next date?’ then you have the space to consider what truly matters to you. This allows you to follow your interests and chase after your dreams.

Indeed, there was research that tracked individuals who remained single throughout their lives alongside those who got married over a period of five years.

Over that five-year span, they discovered that individuals who remained single underwent greater personal development.

For Andie, being unmarried and enjoying independence means desiring "fulfillment" from life.

She states that people think she will be alone for life and die solitary. Yet, they also believe she leads an unrestrained and glamorous lifestyle.

The truth is that I have strong connections with many individuals, and I experience abundant love and fulfillment in my life.

Hope Woodard states that embracing Boysover has enabled her to cultivate self-nurturing habits and enhance various aspects of her life.

“Previously, when relationships and romance were central to every aspect of life, I always felt vulnerable because without them, it seemed as though I lacked everything. It sounds overdramatic, yet there’s an element of truth to it,” she explains.

Now I have a life constructed without men, sex, and romance as focal points; they no longer dominate me... Instead, I am focused on various projects I cherish, artwork I’m producing, and friendships that require constant nurturing and attention.

Camfed Ghana Empowers Women at Yong Dakpemyili Sensitization Event

By Comfort Sena Fetrie-Akagbor

On March 15, the Camfed Ghana Association (CAMA) organized a community awareness event focused on empowering women and promoting girls' education in Yong Dakpemyili, a neighborhood near Tamale.

This was a key component of this year's International Women's Day festivities.

Mr. Inusah Iddrisu, who serves as the Principal Investigator for the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, addressed those present at the event and encouraged women to take up significant positions to foster community growth.

He called upon community members to steer clear of all forms of gender stereotypes, particularly those targeting women and girls, and encouraged traditional and religious leaders to advocate for the education of the girl child as a means to enhance their well-being.

Mr. Sumaila Alhassan, who leads the Parents Support Group, urged mothers and fathers not to overload their daughters with housework once they came home from school.

Miss Ernestina Brenya, the Chairperson of CAMFED Association in Tamale, emphasized CAMA's contribution to advancing women's growth and girl's education.

She praised women for their efforts in enhancing community development and urged them to keep up their role as a supporting network in advancing girls' education.

How Formula One Became the World's Most Glamorous Sport

The landscape of Formula One fandom is undergoing a transformation, but this change isn’t related to gear shifts. Back in 2017, only around eight percent of worldwide F1 enthusiasts were female, as stated by F1 Chief Executive Officer Stefano Domenicali. However, by the end of 2022, that statistic skyrocketed to an impressive forty percent.

In the following year, a research sponsored by Heineken disclosed that 65 percent of newly acquired Australian Formula One fans are women. It's clear as day: the enthusiastic female supporters have made their voices heard, making F1 distinctly driven by females—no pun intended—as never before. If you remain unconvinced, consider looking into F1’s collaborations.

Last year, Charlotte Tilbury made history as the first female-founded beauty brand to secure an F1 sponsorship. The White Lotus Actor Alexandra Daddario serves as an ambassador for TAG Heuer, a brand long associated with Formula 1. She has been part of their team since 2016 when she became the official timekeeper and partner of the Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula 1 Team. In her role representing the revamped edition of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Date, Daddorio showcases this model perfectly. The watch embodies both tradition and modernity; it features a fresh femininity through delicate pastel hues like soft powder pink adorned with diamond indices, along with a soothing shade of lilac.

Women are moving away from the traditional dainty, delicate watches often promoted to them, and the Carrera Date is becoming popular as an option for making a bolder fashion statement. Similar to how large timepieces were once considered exclusive to men, they're now appealing to a broader audience. This shift mirrors changes within Formula 1, where collaborations aren’t what we’d expect compared to previous eras when events had “Ladies Days” that implied women belonged only beside male partners rather than participating directly. These days, initiatives such as eliminating "Grid Girls" reflect progress beyond these old stereotypes about women's roles in motorsports.

This partnership is ideal for Daddario, who frequently appears at racetracks. For TAG Heuer’s The Chase for Carrera campaign, she exudes a sporty-chic sophistication, complementing her pink Carrera Date watch with a leather racing jacket. Similarly, many Gen Z and millennials would recognize popular racecar drivers like Daniel Ricciardo, Lewis Hamilton, and Max Verstappen as favorites among women of their generation.

What exactly transpired here? How did Formula 1 manage to boost its dwindling audience numbers and transform into the coolest sport in contemporary culture? It surely helps that many of its well-known personalities resemble stars fresh from a boy band. We can't overlook how this heartthrob factor might have contributed to an unexpected surge in female fandom (there's even a successful line of F1-inspired romantic novels called "Dirty Air").

Next comes the Netflix phenomenon. With the debut of "Drive to Survive" in 2019, Formula 1 racing surged into mainstream culture, overshadowing former staples of reality television such as shows about housewives, budding models, and romance series.

The hint lies within: although attractive drivers undoubtedly add appeal, the female fanbase isn’t merely present for visual stimulation. Women who are passionate about Formula 1 would readily share that what truly captivates them is the intense political drama, strategic gameplay, and exhilarating performances of the race. Historically, observers often underestimate the influence young women wield over culture. Consider the case of Beatlemania, Taylor Swift obsession and general stan culture.

However, women frequently lead the way in defining the spirit of the times. The F1 seems not to deviate from this norm. This year marks a continuation with just two female drivers recorded historically: Maria Teresa de Filippis in 1958 and Lella Lombardi from 1974 to 1976, indicating they could use some more representation.

The sport is addressing this underrepresentation issue. In 2022, Formula 1 unveiled the F1 Academy, a gender-specific championship aimed at giving women a clear route towards excelling in motorsport. Round one kicks off in Shanghai later this month. Off-track and online, the number of female fans has surged dramatically within the F1 community. Thanks to these dedicated supporters, should this pattern persist, we can expect more women occupying racing seats soon. Women in F1 are not merely competing; they're flourishing.

Charm Strikes Again: National Women's Summit & Expo Marks Seventh Year with a Bang!

On March 7, 2025, the Grand Arena was the venue for a remarkable event where women from various backgrounds gathered to create history at the 7th National Women’s Summit & Expo.

Hosted at the renowned Grand Arena, this gathering solidified its status as Ghana’s premier conference for women in honor of International Women’s Day.

The yearly National Women’s Summit has emerged as a key component of Ghana's dedication to achieving gender equality.

Six years ago, what began as a small project initiated by Charterhouse has grown into an impressive event where women gather to exchange ideas, provide guidance, and motivate one another.

Theresa Oparebea Ayoade, who leads Charterhouse and organized the summit, couldn’t hide her delight as she greeted an eclectic gathering comprising teenagers, experienced professionals, top business leaders, and respected queen mothers.

The event wasn't merely another conference; it was an empowering gathering across different age groups celebrating women who were excelling and supporting one another. Listening intently as Mrs. Ayoade recounted her experiences, everyone present understood that no woman succeeds independently—mentorship, building connections, and personal growth are essential for tapping into hidden capabilities.

Her appeal to the audience went like this: "Instead of merely discussing gender equality, let's expedite our actions!" This could certainly be considered an urgent rallying cry. Her statements sparked a shared determination among those present. It is high time for action, and every individual—from young women to influential entrepreneurs and policymakers—must contribute their part.

In terms of impactful moments, Efua Ghartey, who serves as the President of the Ghana Bar Association and was the keynote speaker, gave an inspiring speech about the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Act, 2024. She urged everyone in attendance to go further than just implementing the act; she stressed the importance of making certain that this legislation becomes part of everyday practice and leads to genuine shifts within institutions. Mrs. Ghartey emphasized that "real empowerment is attained not through gifts, but by taking action."

Nana Yaa Owusu-Ansah, who serves as the Beauty & Personal Care Marketing Director at Unilever Ghana & Francophone Africa, illuminated the topic of 'Women in Agribusiness' during an exclusive Industry Spotlight session added to the summit. This engaging section underscores the significant impact women have within Ghana’s agricultural business landscape, celebrating their achievements, addressing their obstacles, and recognizing their essential roles in driving progress within this field.

As the lead sponsor of the summit, she highlighted the crucial part played by women in agribusiness and how well it aligns with the Geisha brand. "We at Geisha are extremely pleased to continue our role as the main sponsor for this influential gathering of strong women."

Similar to the remarkable women we celebrate today, Geisha finds its power from nature’s caring embrace. Filled with natural components such as cocoa, coconut, lemon, aloe vera, and rose, Geisha moisturizes the skin—just as the women cultivate the very ingredients that energize our brand. Supporting female farmers is not only part of our objective but also the foundation upon which Geisha thrives."

She proceeded to announce an ambitious brand commitment, detailing the measures Geisha is implementing to empower women in Agribusiness. "Geisha is now making significant advances to speed up development within the sector. We're initiating a countrywide program aimed at identifying and backing 10 innovative young females who aspire to enter the realm of agribusiness."

These ladies will participate in an extensive training program aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive. Additionally, each participant will be granted initial funding from Geisha to help develop their enterprises.

When women in agribusiness succeed, they not only expand but also inspire others to follow. Geisha isn’t merely funding their enterprises; she’s unlocking their capabilities and fostering a prosperous future brimming with plentiful yields."

Throughout the entirety of the event, there was an ongoing series of discussions featuring some of the brightest thinkers and most successful female leaders delving deeply into crucial topics such as surmounting obstacles to women’s leadership in corporate and governmental spheres, along with the complexities of Affirmative Action legislation.

Panel discussions

Speed Up Progress: Removing Obstacles for Women in Corporate Sectors (Public & Private)

This session delved into the obstacles women still encounter in corporate settings, especially when overcoming hurdles within both public and private industries. The conversation included discussions on these topics:

  • Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, the High Commissioner of Barbados to Ghana, offered an enlightening viewpoint on global women’s leadership.
  • Maidie Elizabeth Arkutu, Ex-CEO of Unilever and Senior Business Leadership Consultant, imparted her vast knowledge on shattering corporate glass ceilings.
  • Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku, a former Member of Parliament for Domeabra Obom, contributed significant wisdom gained during her time in public service.
  • Sheila Minkah-Premo, the Convener of the Affirmative Action Law Coalition Center, concentrated her efforts on addressing the legal and systematic obstacles to achieving gender equality.
  • Janet Sunkwa-Mills, CEO of Jane'M Salon & Spa and Chairperson of the Executive Women Network, discussed overcoming mental obstacles for advancement.

Panel discussion on women in business – females excelling in commerce and startups

An outstanding panel with some of the most successful businesswomen in Ghana shared their individual stories and professional insights. The participants were:

  • Felicia Twumasi, the CEO and founder of Ghana Home Foods, spoke about expanding enterprises in a crowded marketplace.
  • Deloris Frimpong Manso, the CEO of Delay Foods, discussed her journey as an entrepreneur in a swiftly changing sector during the event.
  • Angela Mensah-Poku, the Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN, contributed a technological viewpoint to aid in business expansion.
  • Amma Gyampo, the CEO of Ghana Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (GVCA), delved into the realm of investments and emphasized the importance of greater female involvement in venture capital.
  • Rebecca Enyornam Ahadzi, the Coordinator of the Affirmative Action Coalition, discussed the overlap between gender policies and business prospects when she spoke.

The summit continued with an MTN SME Impact Hub providing technology-driven solutions for enterprises aiming to enhance their efficiency.

Youth Leadership and Career Conference

The summit featured an interactive Youth Leadership & Career Forum, which was one of the highlights of the event. During this session, TotalEnergies conducted aCareer Guidance Workshop aimed at providing insightful tips to aspiring female leaders of tomorrow.

Throughout the day, the energy kept escalating thanks to impactful sessions paired with rapid mentorship opportunities organized alongside the Executive Women’s Network. This gave emerging female leaders a special chance to engage directly with experienced guides.

This wasn't merely an occasion for career guidance; it was also a platform for young women to grasp each opportunity, confidently embrace their strength, and acquire the skills needed to fulfill their potential as future leaders.

Naturally, a get-together of ladies isn’t considered complete without some shopping involved, so the event featured an array of woman-owned enterprises ranging from packaged foods and herbs/spices to clothing, as well as products for health and wellness.

Many found the core message of the summit straightforward: "Despite the hurdles and prejudices faced by women, through determination and steadfastness, everything can be achieved." Regardless of whether one is an entrepreneur, a student, a corporate leader, or a public servant, the 7th National Women’s Summit & Expo underscored for everyone that the future belongs to females—and what stands between us and our aspirations is merely the actions we have yet to undertake. The gathering was aired live on Joy FM and also livestreamed via the summit’s social media channels.

The 7th National Women’s Summit & Expo was successfully organized by Charterhouse, thanks to the main sponsorship from Geisha, along with support from MTN and contributions from Frytol, TotalEnergies, Bayport, Enterprise Life, and JOY FM. Here’s to continued progress until we meet again next year; ladies, let’s continue driving change... The future lies within our grasp.

Tourism Minister Calls on Queen Mothers to Drive Development Initiatives

By Patrick Ofoe Nudzi

On March 15, Accra — During her address as Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC), Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie urged queen mothers across Ghana to act as catalysts for progress within their respective communities. She emphasized their vital role in facilitating much-needed economic and social advancements at the local level.

She encouraged them not just to view themselves as kingmakers, guardians of traditions and folklores, but also as nation-builders who foster culture, harmony, human dignity, and progress—with an emphasis on empowering women, girls, and children.

Mrs. Dzifa Gomashie initiated this discussion during a meeting with the Minister in Accra, where leaders and members of the Ghana National Association of Queen Mothers, referred to as Unity Queens, addressed topics related to women’s empowerment, progress, advancement, and gender-based violence.

The Minister stated that queen mothers have consistently shown dedication and perseverance in campaigning against female genital mutilation, child marriage, and the imposition of taxes on sanitary pads, among other issues, utilizing their influential positions.

The Minister, who is part of the association, stated: "Our aim is to promote the 16 Regions, and we believe that the Queen Mothers can serve as the means by which information reaches everyone within our community."

She stated that Ghana's prowess in the tourism sector stemmed from its culture, traditions, and creative arts. These aspects have become key components of the nation's tourist offerings and should be advocated for by everyone, including the Queen Mothers.

"Our strength lies in our culture and heritage, and as stewards, who could be more fitting to promote these initiatives than our Queen Mothers?" Madam Dzifa Gomashie emphasized.

She motivated them to transmit traditions and cultural values to the younger generation, mentioning that the Tourism Ministry would work alongside the Trade, Education, and Local Government as well as Chieftaincy Ministries to support the queen mothers in promoting women and girls in business and education endeavors.

Nana Adwoa Ankyaa Awindor, Founder of the Ghana National Association of Queen Mothers, praised the Minister for her consistent backing throughout the years and following her appointment as Tourism Minister.

She mentioned that the organization has been crucial in molding Ghana’s social environment through its advocacy for significant concerns impacting children, women, and young people. It offers resolutions to problems like child marriage, teen pregnancy, substance misuse, human trafficking, and menstrual hygiene management amongst other issues.

Our dedication stays unwavering as we prepare to lead the way in promoting economic progress, financial independence, and community enhancement," she stated. "We also aim to safeguard traditions and cultures so they stay significant and adaptable in our modern era.

The queenmothers gave out a set of clothes which was packaged in a silver-laden box to the Minister, who returned the kind gesture by supporting the association with Gh¢ 5,000.

Football: Fujino Scores as Chelsea Clinches Women's League Cup Title

Japan player Aoba Fujino found the equalizer for Manchester City, however, an own goal by her fellow countrywoman Yui Hasegawa turned out to be crucial as Chelsea secured a 2-1 win in the English Women's League Cup final on Saturday.

In the 64th minute at Derby's Pride Park, Fujino leveled the score with an impressive individual effort. She embarked on a lengthy run through the opposing half, entered the penalty area, and struck the ball into the near post.

However, Hasegawa managed to score from a cross sent in by Mayra Ramirez, who had scored the opening goal for Chelsea with a close-range effort just eight minutes into the game. In the 77th minute, Hasegawa redirected the ball past Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Ayaka Yamashita, from Japan, into the back of the net.

Maika Hamano, an attacker from Nadeshiko Japan, entered the game as a substitute for Chelsea at the 74-minute mark and helped secure their hold on the trophy.
