Sacramento Businesses Gear Up for Unprecedented Rush as A's and Kings Take the Court on Same Day

SACRAMENTO – On Wednesday, for the first time ever, Sacramento witnessed both an MLB game and an NBA game taking place on the same day.

Sacramento experienced a significant moment in sports history with two professional teams nearly competing consecutively for the first time. Only about two dozen U.S. cities host both an MLB and an NBA team, and Sacramento has joined this list.

Gonzalez from Tom's Watch Bar stated that since they are operating within a mile of each other today, it will likely generate significant activity downtown.

Local enterprises have been preparing for a significant influx of sports enthusiasts between Sutter Health Park and Downtown Commons.

This also encompasses Old Sacramento, which finds itself right at the heart of the festivities.

A Sacramento resident commented, 'I believe there are significantly more people wandering around now; it certainly feels much busier.'

"We’re preparing for a busy crowd,” Gonzalez stated. “Today we saw slightly more guests than usual during lunchtime. I expect folks will come here to dine, stay for beverages, have their meals, and gear up for the Kings game.”

Sacramento's take on a doubleheader isn't just occurring once; for their next event, they will play simultaneously again.

"The most difficult aspect of it for me is definitely the traffic and finding parking, however, once we manage to sort out all these issues, everything else should go smoothly," commented another local resident.

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership mentioned that reduced-rate parking was provided for individuals planning to attend both games on Wednesday. Their aim was to motivate those capable of walking to utilize one parking spot and benefit from the nearby locations.

An uptick in pedestrian traffic has been observed," stated Scott Ford from the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. "This indicates the significance of clustering urban attractions such as stadiums within close proximity.

On Friday, the Kings will welcome the Clippers at 7 p.m., coinciding with the A's hosting the Mets at 7:05 p.m. Later, on Sunday, the Kings will face the Suns at 12:30 p.m., while simultaneously, the A's and Mets will compete against each other starting at 1:05 p.m.
