Deputy Caught on Camera Punching 14-Year-Old in Hesperia

A video depicting a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy hitting a 14-year-old boy multiple times in the head with punches during an arrest has raised worries amongst locals. This event took place on Wednesday (April 9) at approximately 4 p.m., close to Hesperia Junior High School in Hesperia, California.

According to a news release At the request of the sheriff’s office, a deputy looked into a claim that a student had brought a firearm onto campus grounds. Once on site, the deputy sought to converse with several people present; however, the youth—a 14-year-old—chose to step aside. As the officer moved to apprehend him, the adolescent reportedly put up resistance, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

In the footage, the deputy can be observed tackling the young male to the ground and striking him several times in the head and abdomen while commanding him to place his hands behind his back. Throughout this incident, the teenager is overheard crying out, with bystanders clearly showing their discontent. Later, the deputy picks up what appears to be a green-handled knife from the pavement; however, it remains uncertain whom the weapon originally belonged to since investigators did not discover any firearm at the scene.

The teenager was taken into custody and processed at the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center due to charges of obstructing a police officer. This event has sparked varied responses; some stress the significance of adhering to authorities' instructions, whereas others express concern over the application of force against a young person.

The Hesperia Police Department is appealing to anyone who has details regarding the incident to reach out to them. The case is still being looked into, and the deputy implicated has yet to be named.

Five Dead in 48 Hours as Arab Sector Crime Surge Rages On

Within 48 hours, five Israeli Arabs lost their lives during an ongoing surge of violent crimes that persistently affects Arab communities throughout the nation.

A series of recent murders resulted in the deaths of two siblings, a 61-year-old individual, and two young men in their twenties hailing from a southern Bedouin town; during this incident, law enforcement engaged in an exchange of gunfire with one of them.

Regular police operations have not managed to reduce the increasing homicide rates within Arab communities. On multiple occasions, these raids have led to confrontations, such as those seen on Wednesday evening. Following a local resident being fatally shot by law enforcement in the predominantly Bedouin city of Ararat al-Naqab, which is alternatively referred to as Arara Bnei Menaheh, locals erupted into protests.

A police officer who responded to a gunfight between opposing family groups ended up shooting and killing Wahib Abdelqader Abu Arar. This led residents to set fire to several homes and a school, resulting in significant fear spreading throughout the Negev village.

Subsequently, late Wednesday night, an unidentified individual fatally shot another man in the town while he attempted to put out flames consuming a house. The deceased, identified as 27-year-old Imad Suleiman Abu Arar, was rushed to Soroka Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. One additional person sustained minor gunshot wounds during this incident.

The police issued a statement saying they confronted Abu Arar once he had been severely injured by their shots. They confiscated an M16 rifle and a pistol from him prior to having emergency responders transport him to a local health care facility.

The following day, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir commended the police officer responsible for fatally shooting Abu Arar and advocated for his advancement.

“I salute the heroic officer who acted with determination and professionalism,” tweeted the far-right minister. “As befits a hero, I requested to review the officer’s promotion. Such an officer deserves to progress and serve as an example and inspiration to his subordinates.”

The head of Israel's Police, Daniel Levy, arrived at the town on Thursday morning and expressed backing for the law enforcement officials whom he stated, "responded forcefully" Wednesday evening, adding that this is precisely how police officers should behave.

On Tuesday evening, before the turmoil began, law enforcement carried out a comparable mission in Ararat an-Naqab, resulting in the apprehension of four individuals accused of firing upon officers earlier that same day.

On Thursday, Matin and Jamal al-Shmali, two brothers, lost their lives in a shooting close to an elementary school in the Jawarish district of Ramle, which is a city located in central Israel.

On Thursday morning, the paramedics discovered the injured siblings inside a vehicle. The medics then transported them to Shamir Hospital, where they were subsequently declared deceased by the hospital personnel.

It is said that the victims had two additional siblings who lost their lives in separate shooting incidents in 2019 and 2020. These three events are believed to be connected to an intense feud involving their family and the notorious Jarushi criminal organization.

Following the initiation of an inquiry into the double murder, law enforcement apprehended three individuals from Ramle who were believed to have participated in the criminal act.

Early Friday morning, 61-year-old Khaled Sawaed was tragically killed by gunfire inside his vehicle as he prepared to head to work in the northern town of Shfaram.

As reported by local Arabic news outlets, the tragic loss included Raslan Sawaed, who was 27 at the time of his death; he too had met with a similar fate approximately two years earlier.

Most homicide cases within the Arab sector remain unresolved by law enforcement, prompting numerous community leaders to criticize the police for failing to adequately prevent violent crimes in those areas.

From the beginning of the year, 69 Arab Israelis have lost their lives in acts of violence related to crime, suggesting that the significant rise in the Arab murder rate observed during Ben Gvir’s tenure has not diminished at all.
