Four Sentenced for Brutal Killing of Taxi Passenger

Four individuals have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in the "cruel and appalling" murder of a man who was stabbed through the window of a cab in East London.

Anselam Senaj, who was 26 years old, died after the taxi he was riding in was abruptly halted by a silver Mitsubishi in Newham on November 11, 2023.

Mohammad Saqib Khan, aged 24 and hailing from Enfield, was convicted of murder after being identified as the one who dealt the lethal blow. The court at Old Bailey heard this information. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a mandatory minimum of 26 years behind bars.

Muhammad Samiyul Miah received a life sentence with a minimum term of 25 years for murder. Zain Ali was sentenced to 14 years in prison for manslaughter, and Ibrahim Naim was handed a 10-year and six-month jail term also for manslaughter.

When sentencing them, Judge Judy Khan KC characterized the killing as a "cold and appalling assault" carried out in an open public space, indicating that it was "well-thought-out and pre-planned."

Before his taxi was halted on Victoria Avenue and he was fatally assaulted, Mr. Senaj reportedly stated, “There’s another vehicle following us—they’re going to murder me,” as reported to the court.

Three out of the six people inside the Mitsubishi encircled the taxi and assaulted the victim, who was still seated.

The assailants, dressed in dark clothing and sporting masks along with gloves, brandished knives measuring up to 2 feet (60 centimeters) in length, as the jury was informed.

Before fleeing in their Mitsubishi, one of the assailants stabbed Mr. Senaj in the chest.

Mr. Senaj passed away at the location even though emergency responders tried their best.

The vehicle, having been taken without permission, was discovered the following day completely charred.

The court learned that the motivation behind the assault stemmed from drug-related issues, even though precise motives remained hazy.

Prosecutor Alexandra Healy KC informed the jury: "Subsequent searches revealed drugs on Mr. Senaj, along with messages retrieved from his phone indicating involvement in drug trafficking."

When Mr. Senaj noticed the Mitsubishi approaching him, he immediately realized he was in peril and informed the taxi driver that the people inside would harm him.

Painfully, he was completely correct in gauging their level of interest.

On Friday at the hearing, the victim's cousin Elira Senaj criticized the perpetrators, stating: "You will forever remain cowards and mere boys."

Your mission required numerical data and armaments. You battled as though you were still a boy when the circumstances should have been fair for both sides.

Miah, who is 19 years old and hails from Manor Park, also pleaded guilty to possessing a knife. His sentencing took into account an additional conviction for raping a 15-year-old girl in a north London park back in March 2023.

Ali, who is 22 years old, and Naim, 18, both residents of East Ham, were acquitted of murder charges but found guilty of the less serious offense of manslaughter.

Ali was additionally tasked with seizing the victim's telephone.

Nigerian Catholics Allege Witchcraft After 70-Year-Old Woman Killed by Muslim Attackers

Muslims who murdered a 70-year-old Catholic woman in Nigeria on March 2 were driven by a false claim from a local herbalist that she had bewitched one of the attackers' wives, according to sources.

Four individuals who identified themselves as Muslims attacked Talatu Joshua shortly after she left a church service at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Kirfi County, Bauchi State, reported local law enforcement officials. According to family and church sources, the religious facility is situated within Kurba village of the same county.

The Bauchi police uncovered the attackers' motivations following the arrest of the suspects on March 8, according to the spokesperson who informed this to the media. Nigerian Tribune Two days prior to the March 2 attack, on February 28, one of the suspects, Jamilu Usman, consulted a traditional healer about his wife's illness. He was informed that Joshua from Jinga village was the cause of her condition, according to the spokesman.

The spokesperson allegedly stated, "That same day, Jamilu Usman initiated an altercation with Talatu, joined by Ismail Usman, Ali Isah, and Rilwanu Usman." During this incident, they alleged that she practiced witchcraft and threatened her life concerning the forthcoming Sallah celebrations [Islamic holiday events]. This dispute intensified when the individuals involved hit Talatu Joshua on the head with a piece of wood, which rendered her unconscious," eventually culminating in her tragic death on March 2nd.

The head of the Bauchi State Police Command, Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakil, named those detained over the March 2 attack as Rilwanu Usman, Ali Isa, Ila Alhaji Marafa, and Jamilu Malam Usman.

"They attacked the older woman on March 2, causing several injuries, such as a serious wound below her left ear," Wakil stated.

Yohanna Haruna, whose mother was killed, informed Christian Daily International-Morning Star News that his son contacted him on the same day to tell him about the assault.

I hurried to the location where she was assaulted and discovered that she had passed away with her body left behind by her assailants," Haruna stated. "At the local police station in Kirfi town, I filed a report about the incident, and they mentioned that an investigation would take place. After notifying the authorities, I brought my mother's remains back home for burial.

Kefas Dennis, who serves as both a catechist and an associate pastor at St. Benedict Catholic Church, verified that Joshua was part of their congregation.

We held a funeral Mass for her and laid her to rest," Dennis stated. "My heart is heavy with questions about why this woman was brutally murdered by those Muslims without any reason.

Lawyers representing Ada-Light Kwaltings, Samuel & Partners stated that the Muslim accused individuals utilized tools such as clubs, knives, and machetes to cause lethal harm to Joshua prior to anyone nearby being able to step in.

Couple Behind Bars After 'Incredibly Dangerous' 90-Minute Motorbike Chase

Two individuals who led police on a "highly risky" chase spanning 90 minutes through three distinct law enforcement jurisdictions have been sentenced to prison.

Police helicopters directed traffic officers and armed patrol units in their search for two individuals following an alleged road rage incident involving a knife threat against a woman driver near Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Motorcycle rider Jake Fagan, aged 29, was clocked at reaching velocities up to 90mph during the chase which occurred on the afternoon of July 18 the previous year. The high-speed incident began in Ellesmere Port, crossed into Merseyside, continued onward towards Chester, and finally extended into North Wales.

Fagan mistakenly drove against traffic on an exit ramp of the M56. He was accompanied by his rear-seat passenger, Connor Mitchell, who was also 29 years old. They were eventually apprehended in the center of Chester when law enforcement effectively used stinger devices.

Onlookers applauded as the officer tackled Fagan like in rugby when both tried to flee on foot.

During the chase, the suspects threw away a bag that was subsequently retrieved by authorities. It was discovered to hold Class A narcotics, according to Cheshire Police.

In his police interview, Fagan from Exeter Road, Ellesmer Port, attacked a wall with punches and headbutts, according to law enforcement officials.

A few days before, Fagan had dismounted from his motorcycle to attack a man on Eton Road in the town.

On Thursday, he received a sentence of four years and eight months at Chester Crown Court for admitting to charges including dangerous driving, assault, possessing a knife, intending to distribute cocaine, dealing with stolen items, and committing criminal damage, according to law enforcement officials.

Mitchell from Farndale Drive, Elton, Chester, received a sentence of three and a half years in prison after admitting to possessing a knife and intending to distribute cocaine.

After the sentencing, Detective Constable Demi Brownrigg stated: "I am pleased with the sentences imposed on Fagan and Mitchell, as they demonstrated utter disregard for the safety of the public during their extremely hazardous chase with law enforcement."

The chase extended across three distinct police jurisdictions. Nevertheless, due to our officers collaborating effectively, we managed to maintain surveillance on the suspects and ultimately halt their concerning actions.

This should illustrate that if you commit a crime in Cheshire, we will track you down and use every available resource to safeguard the communities we serve while ensuring you face justice.

Deputy Caught on Camera Punching 14-Year-Old in Hesperia

A video depicting a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy hitting a 14-year-old boy multiple times in the head with punches during an arrest has raised worries amongst locals. This event took place on Wednesday (April 9) at approximately 4 p.m., close to Hesperia Junior High School in Hesperia, California.

According to a news release At the request of the sheriff’s office, a deputy looked into a claim that a student had brought a firearm onto campus grounds. Once on site, the deputy sought to converse with several people present; however, the youth—a 14-year-old—chose to step aside. As the officer moved to apprehend him, the adolescent reportedly put up resistance, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

In the footage, the deputy can be observed tackling the young male to the ground and striking him several times in the head and abdomen while commanding him to place his hands behind his back. Throughout this incident, the teenager is overheard crying out, with bystanders clearly showing their discontent. Later, the deputy picks up what appears to be a green-handled knife from the pavement; however, it remains uncertain whom the weapon originally belonged to since investigators did not discover any firearm at the scene.

The teenager was taken into custody and processed at the Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center due to charges of obstructing a police officer. This event has sparked varied responses; some stress the significance of adhering to authorities' instructions, whereas others express concern over the application of force against a young person.

The Hesperia Police Department is appealing to anyone who has details regarding the incident to reach out to them. The case is still being looked into, and the deputy implicated has yet to be named.

Five Dead in 48 Hours as Arab Sector Crime Surge Rages On

Within 48 hours, five Israeli Arabs lost their lives during an ongoing surge of violent crimes that persistently affects Arab communities throughout the nation.

A series of recent murders resulted in the deaths of two siblings, a 61-year-old individual, and two young men in their twenties hailing from a southern Bedouin town; during this incident, law enforcement engaged in an exchange of gunfire with one of them.

Regular police operations have not managed to reduce the increasing homicide rates within Arab communities. On multiple occasions, these raids have led to confrontations, such as those seen on Wednesday evening. Following a local resident being fatally shot by law enforcement in the predominantly Bedouin city of Ararat al-Naqab, which is alternatively referred to as Arara Bnei Menaheh, locals erupted into protests.

A police officer who responded to a gunfight between opposing family groups ended up shooting and killing Wahib Abdelqader Abu Arar. This led residents to set fire to several homes and a school, resulting in significant fear spreading throughout the Negev village.

Subsequently, late Wednesday night, an unidentified individual fatally shot another man in the town while he attempted to put out flames consuming a house. The deceased, identified as 27-year-old Imad Suleiman Abu Arar, was rushed to Soroka Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. One additional person sustained minor gunshot wounds during this incident.

The police issued a statement saying they confronted Abu Arar once he had been severely injured by their shots. They confiscated an M16 rifle and a pistol from him prior to having emergency responders transport him to a local health care facility.

The following day, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir commended the police officer responsible for fatally shooting Abu Arar and advocated for his advancement.

“I salute the heroic officer who acted with determination and professionalism,” tweeted the far-right minister. “As befits a hero, I requested to review the officer’s promotion. Such an officer deserves to progress and serve as an example and inspiration to his subordinates.”

The head of Israel's Police, Daniel Levy, arrived at the town on Thursday morning and expressed backing for the law enforcement officials whom he stated, "responded forcefully" Wednesday evening, adding that this is precisely how police officers should behave.

On Tuesday evening, before the turmoil began, law enforcement carried out a comparable mission in Ararat an-Naqab, resulting in the apprehension of four individuals accused of firing upon officers earlier that same day.

On Thursday, Matin and Jamal al-Shmali, two brothers, lost their lives in a shooting close to an elementary school in the Jawarish district of Ramle, which is a city located in central Israel.

On Thursday morning, the paramedics discovered the injured siblings inside a vehicle. The medics then transported them to Shamir Hospital, where they were subsequently declared deceased by the hospital personnel.

It is said that the victims had two additional siblings who lost their lives in separate shooting incidents in 2019 and 2020. These three events are believed to be connected to an intense feud involving their family and the notorious Jarushi criminal organization.

Following the initiation of an inquiry into the double murder, law enforcement apprehended three individuals from Ramle who were believed to have participated in the criminal act.

Early Friday morning, 61-year-old Khaled Sawaed was tragically killed by gunfire inside his vehicle as he prepared to head to work in the northern town of Shfaram.

As reported by local Arabic news outlets, the tragic loss included Raslan Sawaed, who was 27 at the time of his death; he too had met with a similar fate approximately two years earlier.

Most homicide cases within the Arab sector remain unresolved by law enforcement, prompting numerous community leaders to criticize the police for failing to adequately prevent violent crimes in those areas.

From the beginning of the year, 69 Arab Israelis have lost their lives in acts of violence related to crime, suggesting that the significant rise in the Arab murder rate observed during Ben Gvir’s tenure has not diminished at all.
