Titanium stands out due to its mechanical strength, resistance to corrosion, and remarkable lightweight properties. Way back in 1970, Citizen was the first company to produce and market a titanium timepiece known as the X-8 Chronometer, which has now become highly sought after by collectors.
Fifty-five years later, the brand has expanded upon that legacy with two new 43.2mm Attesas. watch The models come equipped with Super Titanium, a specialized variant developed by Citizen, known for being at least five times more durable than regular stainless steel. This collection includes two versions: one finished in silver and another coated with dark gray diamond-like carbon (DLC). These represent the inaugural Attesa series to incorporate a ceramic bezel that houses an internal mechanism for tracking world time.
Equipped with the brand's F950 movement, Citizen's premium Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS system allows for quick synchronization of time adjustments worldwide through orbiting satellites within just three seconds. Should there be no satellite updates, these watches maintain accuracy within +/- five seconds per month. Additionally, every watch includes Double Direct Fly functionality, enabling wearers to choose their local time from among 27 different time zones using only two steps.
The two variations both showcase textured grey dials equipped with three sub-dials, along with a date display positioned between the four and five-hour markers. They also include raised index marks that add dimensionality. Both models come fitted with a comfortable and sturdy integrated, triple-link, Super Titanium band.
However, there's additional features—the 24-hour chronograph can measure events with precision up to 1/20th of a second. The perpetual calendar mechanism adjusts itself at the conclusion of each month and even takes into account leap years, so you won’t have to think about resetting it until February 28, 2100. These functions also offer water resistance up to 100 meters, along with an included alarm function for waking up or setting reminders. Thanks to the anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal glass and the luminescent paint used on the hour markers, viewing this detailed display becomes effortless under most lighting conditions.
As the Attesa utilizes Citizen’s light-powered EcoDrive technology, these timepieces will never require a new battery and can operate continuously for up to five years without exposure to any light (by using saver mode). Despite this, the watches include a power reserve indicator that shows how much illumination the system is capturing at any moment; however, such data may not frequently come into play.
