South Korean musician DJ Koo, husband of the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has reportedly lost 12 kg following her funeral, according to sources.

Citing Sohu , Znews reports that DJ Koo’s significant weight loss is attributed to his deep grief over Hsu’s passing, which has made it difficult for him to eat and caused him to cry daily, further deteriorating his health.

To help support him through this difficult time, Hsu’s younger sister, Taiwanese host Dee Hsu, and her family have been inviting DJ Koo to dinner every week, sources claim. Now based in Taipei, DJ Koo reportedly has only one friend there, and with no other family nearby, he has been enduring his sorrow in solitude.

According to sources, the artist has suspended all entertainment-related endeavors and is now concentrating on constructing a monument in honor of his deceased spouse. The sculpture is intended to be installed at her gravesite upon completion.

Untuk menghargai bapaknya, Haidar bersumpah akan meneruskan warisan Mat Solar dalam industri hiburan.

SEOUL, April 10 (Yonhap) — The upscale automobile division Genesis from Hyundai Motor Group announced on Thursday that they will provide complimentary access to the Bloomberg application along with their exclusive Genesis Music feature for cars featuring their advanced upcoming entertainment systems.

The Bloomberg application will be accessible on all compatible Genesis vehicles. However, Genesis Music won’t come standard with pre-2024 G90 versions and before-renovation GV60 editions. Electrified GV70s will provide this musical feature at a future time.

OPINION By Najib Nsubuga More than one million participants endured the early morning rain shower and took part in the 12th anniversary of the yearly Kabaka Birthday Run (KBR), alongside His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. The race organized primarily to commemorate Kabaka’s birthday has increasingly evolved into the largest social gathering in the nation. Kabaka cleverly uses this event to garner backing for various social causes, particularly promoting awareness and combating diseases.

This year’s event, leveraging his position as a UNAIDS goodwill ambassador, emphasized the importance of men taking action to secure better health outcomes. It aimed at shielding young girls from HIV/AIDS, with the overarching goal of eradicating the disease by 2030.

Nonetheless, it's important to recognize that for those taking part, the event transcends being just a social initiative; instead, they view it as a platform to honor the vibrant Baganda culture and history via musical performances and dances. It’s also considered an enjoyable gathering for fellow citizens, a perfect family outing, and a way to strengthen their connection to their origins, including possibly catching sight of the Kakaba.

Yet, beneath the cultural, social, and celebratory importance of the KBR lies an untapped potential for Ugandan tourism. Through harnessing its distinctive mix of cultural legacy, historic landmarks, and vibrant festivities, the Kabaka Birthday Run could attract numerous international tourists. Despite minimal domestic promotion, the race has drawn participants not only from within Uganda but also from abroad on multiple instances. On the day of the event, I encountered three young women from Kenya who had come specifically to take part in this initiative.

Even though this increasingly popular run attracts both locals (not limited to Bagandans) and features elaborate celebrations, it still remains mostly unrecognized and sparsely frequented by an international audience. This presents a lost chance because the event possesses every element needed to turn it into a significant tourist draw.

In terms of its origin, the KBR addresses a global challenge: raising awareness and uniting efforts to eradicate HIV/AIDS by 2030. Combating AIDS is a central objective on the worldwide platform of the United Nations via UNAIDS, and initiatives in this area hold the potential to draw support from advocates globally.

Secondly, due to its inherent design, the KBR route allows participants to discover the city’s key landmarks, cultural hubs, and historic locations. This path winds through significant spots such as the Kabaka's Palace, the culturally rich Kabakanjagala Road, Bulange Chambers, Namirembe Cathedral, Kasubi Royal Tombs, the Kabaka’s Lake, Makerere University, the Golf Course, Kololo Independence Park, and the Gaddafi Mosque, amongst others.

In addition to monuments, the participants get the chance to experience Kampala city life that includes the delicacies and cuisine, the music and dances, the bars and eating points, the traffic flows with bodabodas jostling through every available space, the free connection with others and interaction with the city’s highs and lows.

As a regular participant, I can attest to the fact that at some point, the revelers forget the cause and instead exploit the opportunity to enjoy themselves to the fullest. I have seen a good number taking pride in their clan's totem sculptures on Kabakanjagala road, others dancing to random tunes, others mesmerized by the entertainment from highly trained dogs and others taking pictures at each monument they come across.

All that makes Imagine a scenario where the Kabaka Birthday Run is marketed and promoted as a premier tourism event, attracting visitors from around the world. The event could be packaged with other tourism products, such as cultural tours, walking city tours, accommodation packages, and local cuisine, to create a unique and unforgettable experience for tourists.

The benefits of promoting the Kabaka Birthday Run as a tourism event are numerous. Firstly, it would provide a much-needed boost to the local economy, as tourists would inject money into the local businesses and communities. Secondly, it would promote cultural exchange and understanding, as tourists would have the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of Buganda. Finally, it would enhance Uganda's reputation as a tourism destination, showcasing the country's unique cultural and natural attractions.

However, to achieve this vision, there needs to be a concerted effort from all stakeholders, including the Buganda Kingdom, the Uganda Tourism Board, the Ministry of Tourism, Kampala Capital City Authority and other key tourism players. This would involve investing in marketing and promotion, infrastructure development, and product development.

I believe that anyone in the tourism industry can easily see the potential of developing the KBR beyond just a local event, but a premium tourism product that can be sold to the international community. This will unlock its potential and reap the economic, cultural, and social benefits that come with it. It is time for us to wake up to this opportunity and work together to make the Kabaka Birthday Run a major tourism event in Uganda that is deeply rooted in our moral and cultural values.

The scene featuring Nagabhushana confronting Garuda Ram, the villain of the movie, brought back memories of the legendary finale between Shah Rukh Khan’s character Rahul and Thangabali from the hit 2013 film ‘Chennai Express’. However, will this production elevate Nagabhushana from being just an entertaining sidekick to becoming a notable leading man in Kannada cinema? We shall see!

Siddhu, also known as Vidyapati (played by Nagabhushan), is a carefree individual from a humble yet diligent household with ambitions for an opulent lifestyle. Upon falling deeply in love with upcoming megastar Vidya (portrayed by Malaika), he deceives her into marriage through a tangled net of falsehoods. Along this journey, he leaves behind his kin and companions without hesitation—this sacrifice being inconsequential compared to the luxurious existence he seeks alongside his spouse’s wealth and income.

One night, as Siddu goes on a date with his wife, they encounter Jaggu (Garuda Ram), a well-known criminal. This meeting concludes with Siddu failing to protect Vidya’s dignity and ending up battered while attempting to escape from the predicament. Feeling humiliated by her spouse, Vidya opts to thrust Siddu back into abject poverty, stipulating that he must defeat Jaggu before she will let him come back into their lives. How does Siddu manage to reintegrate himself into Vidya's world? And what insights does he gain along this journey? These queries drive the narrative of the movie.

In the heart of this emotionally charged action-comedy lies the complex nature of Siddu and his relentless pursuit of wealth, which forms the crux of the narrative. This journey unfolds across multiple experiences throughout the movie. The connections between Siddu and key figures such as his spouse Vidya, his father, his stepmother, and his lifelong buddy significantly shape both his development and the viewer’s connection to him within what can be described as an episodic storyline.

The recent triumph of the Tamil movie "Dragon," starring Pradeep Ranganathan, continually highlighted that when viewers resonate emotionally with what’s happening onscreen, they may overlook various imperfections—this insight might also apply to this film. Similarities such as complex protagonists achieving salvation, tumultuous connections, and relying heavily on recognizable feelings suggest that "Vidyapati" shares potential with "Dragon." However, this doesn’t imply it lacks flaws; quite the contrary.

Esham and Haseen, the writing-directing pair, appear to have crafted an entire script around a compelling single line but opted for a very conventional approach in bringing it to life. The lack of creativity in execution serves as a significant shortcoming. Additionally, the movie fails to deliver substantial resolutions to any of the connections formed throughout the story. Given that these directors previously created something as distinctive as 'Ikkat,' this new work seems less like a personal endeavor and more akin to a routine task.

Nagabhushana puts forth considerable effort to shoulder the film single-handedly, with much reliance placed on his performance. During the initial part of the movie, many of his jokes hit their mark and elicit laughter; nonetheless, some scenes feature overly exaggerated acting that feels out of place. Nevertheless, Nagabhushana redeems himself in the latter portion through his nuanced portrayal of emotionally charged moments, which reaffirms his capability as a leading actor in Kannada cinema.

It’s surprising how little screen time Malaika Vasupal gets despite playing the titular character, Vidya. She appears in just a few scenes but performs adequately within them. On the other hand, Garuda Ram, who takes on the role of the villain Jaggu, fails to impress with his acting.

Special recognition goes to Daali Dhananjay for his extended appearance as the enigmatic Anaconda, a martial arts master whose performance brings some of the finest scenes in the movie. The introductory fight scene featuring Anaconda is exceptionally staged and flawlessly performed by Dhananjay, eliciting applause and enthusiastic reactions from viewers. Viewed independently, Anaconda’s tale has potential as an intriguing project; however, it would require creators to adopt a fresh strategy when developing her background.

Among all the technical departments, the music department shines uniquely. Composer Bossmode successfully leads viewers through a script that often veers off course. The cinematography and editing fall short in various areas and barely reach an average quality level.

In general, if you anticipate a tale akin to David versus Goliath based on the trailer, or something reminiscent of Shah Rukh Khan’s Rahul confronting Thangabali scene from 'Chennai Express,' then what we have here is merely a visual parallel. Nevertheless, even with all its shortcomings, ‘Vidyapati’ remains an easygoing, casual watch—particularly appealing to viewers who found enjoyment in the humor and emotive moments hinted at in the preview.

JAKARTA, - Dunia entertainment Indonesia sekali lagi berdukacita menyambut kabar meninggalnya Mat Solar, pemeran senior yang populer lewat perannya sebagai Bajuri di sinetron Bajaj Bajuri pada Selasa malam (17/3/2025).

Mat Solar, yang sebenarnya bernama Nasrullah, akan disemayami di Tempat Pemakaman Umum Haji Daiman, Cimanggis, Ciputat, Tangerang Selatan, pada hari ini Selasa (18/3) antara pukul 09.00 hingga 10.00 WIB.

Kelahiran Mat Solar terjadi di Pejompongan, Jakarta Pusat, pada tanggal 4 Desember 1962. Dia dibesarkan dalam atmosfer Budaya Betawi yang kaya akan seni dan tradisi oleh kedua orang tuanya, yaitu H. Muh Ali Sidik dan Hj. Rosani.

Kariernya dalam berakting dimulai di Teater Mama, yaitu grup teater komedi Betawi yang sering muncul di TVRI antara tahun 1978 hingga 1982. Melalui pertunjukan tersebut, dia memperoleh nama panggung Mat Solar, suatu nama yang tetap menempel padanya selama hayatnya.

Sejak kecil, Mat Solar telah terlibat dalam industri hiburan. Tahun 1982, dia memulai kariernya di bioskop melalui film "Dongkrak Antik", yang juga menampilkan bintang komedi legendaris Warkop DKI sebagai lawan mainnya.

SNL Honors Val Kilmer in a Star-Studded Saturday Night Tribute

Saturday Night Live honored the late Val Kilmer, who passed away on April 1 at the age of 65 due to pneumonia.

The versatile actor, known for both drama and comedy, had previously hosted the late-night program on December 9, 2000, with musical guest U2, during which he even parodied his character Iceman from the original Top Gun.

The Juilliard-educated Kilmer, cherished for his broad spectrum as a multifaceted actor and his authentic persona, died earlier this week Following an earlier diagnosis and recovery from throat cancer, which left a lasting change on his vocal quality, he became recognized for his prominent roles in movies such as The Doors, The Saint, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Batman Forever, Tombstone, Thunderheart, Willow and his last credit, Top Gun: Maverick.
