Student Accused of Bomb Threat Shocks Jefferson County School

A student from Jefferson County Schools was taken into custody on Thursday for reportedly issuing a bomb threat, according to a statement released by the sheriff's office on Friday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department stated that officials from Jefferson County Schools reached out to the School Resource Officer at the Patriot Academy around 6 PM on Thursday regarding a threat that had been shared on social media.

The Special Response Team, along with investigators from the criminal investigation unit, representatives from Jefferson County Schools, and an officer from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security started investigating the threat.

At 2 a.m., according to the JCSO, deputies responded to a residence where they apprehended a minor accused of making threats concerning mass violence at an educational institution. The JCSO stated that this juvenile is currently detained at the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Center located in Knoxville.
