On Wednesday, law enforcement apprehended a 33-year-old male for allegedly stabbing another individual in the parking area of a Planet Fitness located in Passaic County. He has been subsequently charged for this incident.

Thomas J. Vitulano, aged 33, was apprehended at his residence in Bergen County and faced charges of aggravated assault along with two weapon-related offenses, according to law enforcement officials.

The victim’s age has not been disclosed; they were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to police statements.

Police arrived around 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Planet Fitness located on Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne following reports of an altercation involving two individuals.

The responding officers discovered that one individual had been stabbed and that the attacker had escaped through the parking lot.

According to the police, the victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

"Several police officers started scouring the vicinity while their colleagues provided assistance to the stabbing victim and commenced an inquiry," stated Wayne Police Captain Dan Daly.

A knife believed to be used in the stabbing was found in the area by a patrol officer and recovered as evidence, Daly said.

The detectives examined video recordings "as well as other documents," which pointed them towards Vitulano as a potential culprit.

Subsequently, they concluded that he resides in Mahwah and apprehended him with the help of the local police, as stated by the Wayne police department.

The police have not revealed if the victim and Vitulano were part of the same gym.

Vitulano was transferred to Passaic County Jail, awaiting his detention hearing. Legal representation details for him were not readily accessible on Friday morning.
