Trenton Man Faces Judgment After Attacking and Robbing Federal Agent: DOJ

Earlier this month, a 30-year-old man from Trenton received a sentence of almost 13 years in prison. He had previously admitted to pointing a gun at a federal agent with the intention of selling an unauthorized firearm, according to officials.

Alina Habba stated that Jabree Johnson admitted guilt to assaulting a federal officer using a lethal weapon, robbing someone who had control over federal property through the use of a dangerous weapon, as well as committing a firearms violation.

In March 2021, a federal undercover agent organized the acquisition of several weapons from Johnson, according to Habba. After handing over one firearm, Johnson was asked by the agent about additional weaponry he had consented to sell, as stated by Habba.

Johnson aimed the loaded weapon at the undercover officer and asked for cash, according to Habba. After giving Johnson some money, the undercover agent was instructed to leave the car under threat of force, as Habba recounted.

When he exited the car, the agent pulled out their weapon and shot at Johnson, striking him in the shoulder, according to Habba. In response, Johnson repeatedly fired back using his pistol, as stated by Habba. Despite this, Johnson managed to escape with the cash; however, he was subsequently recognized when brought to a nearby medical facility, Habba added.
