Police Arrest Watervliet Man for First-Degree Rape Following Investigation

A man from Watervliet was taken into custody after an inquiry into a sexual assault report made on Saint Patrick’s Day.

On March 17, the Watervliet Police Department was called regarding a reported sexual assault. The incident allegedly involved a 17-year-old female who claimed she had been subjected to repeated assaults by someone she knew.

A probe carried out alongside the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force led to the apprehension of Evan L. Kennedy, aged 36 from Watervliet, on April 1, 2025. Kennedy faced charges related to felony first-degree rape.

Kennedy appeared at Watervliet City Court, where he was initially held at the Albany County Jail. However, he has since been let out under the oversight of Albany County Probation and is now wearing an ankle monitoring device.
