HORSEHEADS, N.Y. ( WETM An Elmira woman has been taken into custody for DWI and drug offenses following reports that she was allegedly seen operating a vehicle while intoxicated due to methamphetamine use, with a minor inside the car.
Amber A. Walborn, aged 35, has been taken into custody on several charges including operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs—due to previous convictions (classified as an E felony)—as well as for aggravatedDWI involving a minor passenger younger than 16 years old (also classified as an E felony). Additional accusations include possessing a controlled substance at level seven and engaging in unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle twice before, according to information released by the New York State Police.
Authorities indicate that Walborn faced charges following an event that took place on Wednesday, April 9th, at approximately 3:15 PM. According to reports, members of the state police stationed at the Horseheads barracks responded to a call about a questionable female accompanied by a child inside a car on County Route 64 in Horseheads.
When they arrived at the location, authorities report discovering a car containing Walborn along with a small child. In their examination of the event, investigators state that they administered standard field sobriety assessments to Walborn, who did not pass them. Additionally, law enforcement mentions finding what appeared to be methamphetamine as well as another regulated drug within the automobile.
Consequently, Walburn was detained and arrested on the stated charges. She was subsequently transported to the state police station in Horseheads for booking and later allowed to leave with an appearance ticket, scheduling her court appearance for May.
