Currently, Liverpool intends to allow their central forward Darwin Núñez to leave the team, and they may also see aggressive right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold transferring to Real Madrid next season. Regarding this matter, ex-England footballer Paul Robinson asserted that Mitoma is prepared to take on the challenge at Liverpool. He believes Mitoma possesses the talent suited for a higher level of competition.
Forward Mitoma, playing for Brighton in the English Premier League (EPL), has caught the eye of multiple clubs such as Chelsea. There’s an increasing likelihood of him potentially moving to another team this summer.
Paul Robinson has previously mentioned that both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez might depart from Liverpool during this summer. The club’s transfer director is advocating for a thorough overhaul of the attacking lineup.
Robinson stated, “Currently, there isn’t room for Mitoma within the Liverpool attack lineup due to players such as Díaz, Jota, and Salah being part of it along with additional options; however, his growth hasn’t been as significant as anticipated.” He further clarified, “Should a winger capable of playing on the left similar to Gakpo join the club, then Mitoma could serve as a valuable backup option.”
If both Diaz and Gakpo can operate effectively on the left flank, then Mitoma might not be essential," he stated. "The club has other areas they wish to strengthen initially due to the significant transfer cost Brighton would require. However, should the forward depart from the squad, Mitoma would be well-suited as an option for Liverpool.
Liverpool is currently considering recruiting new players like Mitoma, while also focusing on renewing contracts with existing players.
On the 17th, Liverpool announced the extension of captain Virgil van Dijk’s contract by an additional two years. Consequently, the team’s defensive duties will continue to rely heavily on him moving into the next season.
