Since 1995 the G-SHOCK 6900 has been dotting wrists around the world. Initially popular with the military and outdoor enthusiasts the model quickly made inroads in the skateboarding and sporting communities, eventually reaching critical mass as a global streetwear icon. Fittingly, Casio has decided to commemorate the G-SHOCK 6900’s thirty-year legacy with three limited-edition models— the 30th anniversary collection —colored red, yellow, and black, the trio of initial hues.
The latest models continue to feature the iconic 53mm round casing, along with the characteristic layered circle design and prominent front button. This button is crafted from polished metal and bears an intricately etched "G" logo, enhancing both the robust aesthetic and adding a subtle tactile variation. When you press this button, the inscription “SINCE 1995” displays under the LCD Super Illuminator backlight. Additionally, the back cover is inscribed with “SHOCK RESIST,” embellished further with 30 stars marking the milestone year.
Similar to other models in the 6900 series, these special 30th anniversary edition G-SHOCK watches come with the brand's signature shock-resistant design, providing up to 200 meters of waterproofing. They feature both 12- and 24-hour display options, along with a stopwatch capable of measuring hundredths of a second, as well as a countdown timer function. Additional features include multiple alarms, an illuminating flash alert system, and an advanced full-auto calendar valid through the year 2099. These timepieces operate using a reliable quartz digital mechanism known for being precise within ±15 seconds each month and can run efficiently off a single CR2016 battery for about half a decade.
To reduce their ecological footprint, the watch cases and straps are made from bio-based resin, derived from sustainable natural sources.
