The government of Niger State, alongside the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) and the MasterCard Foundation, has initiated an online program called Transforming Nigerian Youth (TNy).
The program is designed to educate 10,000 young individuals, with an emphasis on empowering women, in areas of financial understanding and business acumen.
Hauwa Bako, who serves as the Special Advisor to the Niger State Governor regarding the Social Investment Program (SIP) and acts as the focal person for the National Social Investment Program (N-SIP), unveiled the commencement of registrations at an event attended by various stakeholders in Minna.
She mentioned that the initiative aims to provide young people with crucial knowledge in business administration and monetary understanding.
Bako additionally stressed that the initiative seeks to reshape attitudes, boost job readiness, and build managerial skills among youthful business owners.
The initiative caters specifically to young women who are either starting their careers as entrepreneurs or aiming to become businesswomen. It provides a mix of virtual and face-to-face educational workshops aimed at developing the necessary entrepreneurial abilities for success.

As she stated, the online training is available to everyone from Nigerlite, and those who wish to participate can sign up through this link: bit.ly/tny25niger.
She mentioned that the advantages of the program encompass business expansion and mentoring, assistance with business registration and brand development, help with job placement and entrepreneurial connections, as well as certification opportunities.
During her speech, the Honorable Commissioner for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Mrs. Elizabeth Shaba, highlighted that the initiative does not provide starter kits, business subsidies, or loan assistance.
Halima Rabiu from EDC also mentioned that the program is entirely web-based, allowing participants to study according to their personal schedule.
"The courses are straightforward to comprehend, and we facilitate communal physical learning sessions for the state government to gather women across different zones so they can learn together," she explained.
In a similar vein, Olawale Anifowose, who leads Programs and Partnerships, revealed that the initiative targets 10,000 female entrepreneurs in Niger State. The focus is on supporting micro-businesses run by women who are already established in their ventures.
"The initiative aims to expand upon previous achievements by providing an improved curriculum that addresses essential topics including business strategy, fiscal administration, promotional techniques, and digital competencies," he stated.
