Around 12:20 p.m., homicide detectives were sent to the 2000 block of Durfee Avenue following reports from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department about an individual who passed away while attempting to stop a shoplifting incident.
No additional information was promptly made available. According to reports from KTLA5 at the location, the individual who was harmed owned a business and was trying to prevent a theft when they were struck by the perpetrator, who then escaped the area.
