Man Arrested Following Massive Shootout and Brawl in Battle Creek

A 35-year-old man from Battle Creek was taken into custody on Thursday following a significant altercation that involved gunfire.

Police officers from the Battle Creek Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of West Michigan Avenue around 3:30 p.m. following reports of a significant altercation with approximately 60 individuals involved.

As they were en route, law enforcement officials received reports indicating that gunshots had allegedly been discharged at the location.

Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel spoke with eyewitnesses who stated that the individual responsible for firing the shots—a 35-year-old male—had escaped from the area, as per official statements. The incident did not result in any casualties at the location.

The responding officers found the suspect's car and performed a traffic stop. The suspect was then apprehended, and a gun was discovered inside the vehicle.

The individual has been detained at the Calhoun County Jail for various weapons-related charges such as concealing a weapon, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, and discharging a weapon recklessly.
