Man Arrested After Allegeedly Killing Wife Post-Job Interview and Disposing of Body in Mexico

Jorge Mares Raygoza was apprehended by the El Paso Police on suspicion of murder due to his involvement in the death of his spouse, Coral Llamas Sifuentes.

According to reports, a man was apprehended in Texas for supposedly murdering his spouse by choking her to death after discovering she had an extramarital relationship.

The El Paso Police Department issued in a statement as stated X The police apprehended Jorge Mares Raygoza, aged 47, for murder charges on March 28 due to his involvement in the death of Coral Llamas Sifuentes, who was 45 years old.

The police stated that their Crimes Against Persons unit received notification from the FBI regarding an ongoing death investigation involving Sifuentes. She was discovered dead in Juarez, Mexico; however, according to Mexican officials informing American authorities, they suspect her murder took place within the United States.

The detectives met with Raygoza on March 28 and secured an arrest warrant for him. He was subsequently taken into custody at the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he was assigned a bond of $1.25 million.

The El Paso Police Department did not promptly reply to Diwida |'s inquiry regarding the incident.

Raygoza and Sifuentes were married but resided separately, with Raygoza living in Hobbs, New Mexico, while Sifuentes stayed in El Paso along with their children, as stated in an arrest affidavit acquired by KVIA-TV , KFOX14 and KTSM-TV .

According to the affidavit cited by these sources, Raygoza was employed from Mondays to Fridays at a warehouse and would visit his relatives in El Paso during the weekend. But on March 18, he found out that his spouse had reportedly been unfaithful for the last couple of years when he caught her with someone else at a hotel, as reported by KVIA-TV and KFOX14.

On March 21, as stated in the affidavit, Raygoza confronted her regarding the supposed affair. Later, he admitted to law enforcement that he became extremely angry and choked her for approximately half an hour. Afterward, he dressed her body and placed it in the rear seat of her vehicle. Subsequently, according to KVIA-TV, he drove to a job interview in El Paso.

As stated in the affidavit, after the interview, surveillance footage showed Raygoza using Sifuentes' car to enter Juarez via the Ysleta Port of Entry and then return to the U.S. with the same vehicle. According to reports from KFOX14, he confessed to law enforcement that his purpose for going to El Paso was to dispose of her remains. The document further revealed, as reported by KTSM-TV, that he had deliberately damaged her cellphone and smartwatch.

The Chihuahua Attorney General's Office in Mexico stated that Sifuentes passed away due to asphyxiation from strangulation, and mentioned that her remains were found along the Periferico Camino Real highway in Juarez on March 22, reported KVIA-TV.

Following notification from Mexican officials who informed them of Raygoza’s identification, the FBI alerted the El Paso Police Department about Sifuentes' death investigation. According to reports from KFOX14 and KTSM-TV, he reportedly stepped forward upon viewing a news report detailing her demise and recognized her footwear.

The El Paso Police Department stated that the inquiry into Sifuentes' death remains active.
