Fort Smith Man Denies First-Degree Murder Charge

FORT SMITH, ARK. (KNWA/KFTA) — According to legal papers, a man from Fort Smith who is charged with killing a woman last month entered a plea of not guilty.

Marvin Davis, aged 58, was taken into custody on March 18 for allegations of first-degree murder and aggravated burglary. Additionally, he faces charges as a repeat offender.

According to court documents, Davis entered a plea of not guilty on April 9 when his arraignment was postponed two times.

Fort Smith police say They reacted to a residence on the 1500 block of South 11th Street at approximately 2:55 a.m. on March 16.

Upon arriving at the location, law enforcement discovered a deceased female individual who was subsequently identified as Dorothy Edmonds, aged 65. According to police reports, Ms. Edmonds exhibited signs of cranial injuries indicative of criminal activity.

According to the statement, investigators identified Davis as a suspect within the following two days. He underwent an interview on March 18 and subsequently got arrested.

Davis is currently detained at the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center with a bond set at $250,000. The scheduled trial date is September 8th.
