He competes for Allen High School, where besides playing football, he participates in track events such as sprints and long jump. His impressive 100-meter dash time stands at 10.6 seconds, which earned him the moniker 'Jett.'
Smith chose the University of Alabama over offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, and Utah, amongst other institutions.
