Eager to purchase a new vehicle? You may wish to hold off as several exciting models are set to hit dealerships nearby shortly. These include everything from a vintage-inspired sports sedan equipped with a conventional fuel-powered engine to an all-terrain SUV driven entirely by electricity. Additionally, there’s a hybrid pickup truck featuring both gas and electric capabilities, potentially revolutionizing the market. According to Edmunds' experts, these are likely to be among the top picks for automotive buyers arriving later this year.

2026 Dodge Charger Six-Pack Sedan

Perhaps you've encountered the Charger Daytona R/T, Dodge’s latest electric performance coupe that channels styling cues from the iconic 1969 Charger. However, should you prefer not to go for an EV and require a vehicle with four doors instead? The good news comes in the shape of the 2026 Charger Sixpack four-door sedan featuring a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline engine.

Referred to as the "Hurricane," this engine produces 420 horsepower in its standard output configuration, surpassing the 5.7-liter V8 found in the previous Charger model. Additionally, we anticipate that Dodge will introduce a higher-output version of this engine later, which is expected to generate around 550 horsepower.
2026 Honda Prelude

The Honda Prelude exemplified Honda's design and engineering prowess during the 1980s and 1990s. However, following the conclusion of the 2001 model year, it vanished from the company’s range of vehicles. Now, more than twenty-five years since its departure, it is making a return.
The completely redesigned 2026 Honda Prelude will adopt a hybrid configuration. It’s likely that Honda will equip this model with the same hybrid system found in the hybrid variants of the CR-V and Civic. At present, details regarding its output levels as well as anticipated fuel efficiency remain undisclosed. Nonetheless,Honda has confirmed that the Prelude will include an S+ Shift mode designed to enhance driving enjoyment beyond conventional hybrids.
2026 Jeep Recon
For the most part, many electric SUVs perform better on paved roads rather than rugged terrain. However, Jeep aims to alter this perception with their forthcoming 2026 Recon, an adventurous and angular electric vehicle designed for impressive off-road capabilities akin to those of a Wrangler, along with offering an open-air driving feel.
Recently, Jeep showcased the Recon in an advertisement featuring Harrison Ford. Nevertheless, they haven't shared many specifics about this model yet. The exact driving distance and price of the Recon remain undisclosed. However, it’s confirmed that it will include features such as all-terrain tires, skid plates, a power-operated roof, along with detachable windows and doors. Additionally, built-in trail guide maps within the entertainment system coupled with electronically controlled axles ensure that the Jeep Recon is prepared for adventurous off-road excursions.
2025 Ram Ramcharger
With one of the most fitting model names ever conceived, the Ram Ramcharger is a large pickup truck fitted with electric motors and a battery pack. This setup mirrors that of the Ford F-150 Lightning. What sets it apart is an additional gas-powered V6 engine designed to address concerns about limited driving range.
The extended-range power system from Ram might seem intricate at first glance, yet its functionality is quite straightforward. Once the vehicle's batteries deplete their charge, the internal combustion engine steps in as a supplementary power source, enabling the Ramcharger to cover approximately 690 miles before needing either electric recharge or refueling with petrol. Essentially, this means you could potentially operate the Ramcharger entirely bypassing conventional EV chargers or even regular gas stations.
Furthermore, there are no drawbacks regarding performance. Ram states that the Ramcharger has the ability to haul up to 14,000 pounds and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
2026 Rivian R2
Presently, Rivian’s pickup trucks and SUVs come at a premium cost; however, the forthcoming R2 SUV aims to make things more affordable with an estimated price tag of $45,000. Although smaller than the current R1S model, this new addition boasts the same robust and cutting-edge design aesthetic. The Rivian R2 accommodates up to five passengers and offers over 300 miles of range per charge from its fully powered-up state. Additionally, it features all-wheel-drive capability along with impressive ground-clearance capabilities reaching as much as 9.8 inches for those adventurous off-roading excursions.
The Rivian R2, featuring rear vent windows and a back window that lowers into the tailgate, aims to compete with the Jeep Recon. Keep in mind that unlike the Recon, where the doors can be removed, this won’t be possible with the R2. The release date is slated for sometime during the first six months of 2026.
Edmunds says
We appreciate these five forthcoming models for their retro charm, technical advancements, or potential for enjoyment regardless of your destination or activity. Among them, the Jeep Recon stands out as it embodies all three qualities: nostalgia, technology, and entertainment.
