Porsche’s new Macan Is available exclusively with electric power, however, the brand has confirmed they are developing a closer substitute for the current petrol-driven model—although it probably won't be named Macan.

The company states they are "considering a separate lineup focused on the SUV market with both gasoline and hybrid engines... This new range might hit dealerships by the end of the decade."
"Following the discontinuation of the combustion-engine versions of the same name, the Macan will be available solely as an electric vehicle globally," the company stated, thereby confirming that future SUVs will carry a distinct designation.
Doctor Blume acknowledged that automakers were far more optimistic about the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) during the early stages of developing the new-generation Macan.
“Back in 2016, we made the choice to concentrate solely on electric vehicles moving forward, and during this period, the acceleration towards electromobility seemed even more promising,” stated Dr Blume.
We believe there is potential for an additional SUV in this market, and we aim to create significant distinction with our electric offering.
We continue to produce the combustion engine version for Europe and other global regions; however, this particular model will stand out as being even more specialized towards the latter part of the decade. Our aim extends beyond just European markets into the '30s, offering a solution that caters not only to Europe but also globally. Dr Blume indicates that the initial ideas and designs are "highly encouraging."
We believe the timing aligns well with the phase-out of the combustion engine Macan in Europe and the gradual introduction of the electric Macan across all global markets," he explained. "We feel confident that this vehicle will perfectly suit its market niche once we can clearly differentiate between both models and present a genuine futuristic concept for Porsche.
Doctor Blume's statement suggests that Porsche will keep two models in this category.
The gasoline-driven Macan began production in 2014, whereas the electric version of the Macan — based on an entirely new architecture — will start production ten years after the initial model.
