Confirmation of a follow-up to the legendary rockumentary has been announced, as a teaser trailer for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues has hit the internet — featuring none other than Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney confirmed to cameo.
The upcoming movie is scheduled to include the initial ensemble of actors including Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer, who will come together again with director Rob Reiner.
Guest portrays the lead guitarist Nigel Tufnel, McKean takes on the role of lead singer David St Hubbins, Shearer is cast as bassist Derek Smalls, and Reiner originally played the part of the documentary filmmaker Martin 'Marty' DiBergi from the first movie.
The preview displayed knobs on an amplifier being adjusted 'to eleven' — a renowned gag from the initial film concerning 'one of England’s loudest groups'.
It has been verified that along with Sir Elton and Sir Paul ,, several other celebrities will also make an appearance.
This will include US Country musicians Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Canadian vocalist Paul Shaffer, actress Fran Drescher from "The Nanny," along with British humorists Nina Conti, Kerry Godliman, and Chris Addison.
This will see a comeback for some of the cast, including Drescher, who played Bobbi Flekman from Polymer Records in the original film. She took offense at the band’s 'sexist' album cover.

In 2002, the initial movie was chosen for preservation by the National Film Registry and recognized as 'culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant' by the US Library of Congress.
Reiner previously told Deadline he desired for the sequel to come out in 2024.
'The idea is to release a sequel for the 40th anniversary of the initial movie, and let me assure you that almost every day someone asks, when will you make another one?'
'For numerous years, we would say, "No way." It wasn't until we hit upon the perfect concept for executing this. You don't simply want to do it for the sake of doing it; you aim to pay homage to the original and take the narrative a step further.'

The initial 1984 movie This Is Spinal Tap ridiculed heavy metal bands, highlighting the absurdity of their wild conduct behind the scenes and their outrageous costumes.
The film proved to be hugely successful, which led the group to perform together as Spinal Tap at numerous events such as gigs at the Glastonbury Festival, Live Earth concerts, and also during a homage concert for Freddie Mercury.
Following his directorial debut with "Spinal Tap," Reiner continued to helm films such as "Stand By Me," "The Princess Bride," and "A Few Good Men," along with "When Harry Met Sally" and "Misery."
Reiner has gained recognition for his performances in TV shows like New Girl and movies such as The Wolf of Wall Street, The First Wives Club, and Sleepless in Seattle.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues is scheduled for release in September 2025.
