New Delhi [India], March 16 (ANI): On Saturday, Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed his gratitude to the members of the National People's Party (NPP) for their support in reelecting him as the president of the party.
During the organizational elections conducted in Delhi, former Cabinet Minister Paknga Bage was chosen as the General Secretary, whereas Mehtab Agitok Sangma was selected for the role of National Treasurer.
The recently re-elected NPP President stated in an official statement that the members of the National Committee for 2025-28 will be revealed soon.
In discussions with ANI, Sangma stated his intention to remain in the position for another three years. Additionally, he highlighted that according to the NPP constitution, an Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) takes place annually.
According to the constitution of the National People's Party, an annual general body meeting must take place each year. This particular annual gathering was particularly significant since my presidential term had concluded, making it essential for me to hand over responsibilities after serving for nearly three years. Additionally, during this AGM, a new president would be chosen, and I am grateful to the members, the organization, and the delegates who have re-elected me as their president, thus allowing me another chance to continue serving them,” he stated.
"As I mentioned, this AGM held greater significance because I will be serving another term for the upcoming three years as the leader of the National People's Party," he explained.
On the social media platform X, Sangma reiterated his dedication to bolstering the party's strength.
"I am deeply grateful to the NPP family for once again placing their confidence in my leadership by reelecting me as the National President of the National People's Party. With this support, we shall work together to elevate NPP to new heights of national and regional recognition, fulfilling the dreams and expectations of our citizens," he stated. (ANI)
