The first electric Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen will soon be available at Australian dealerships, as ordering has commenced and prices have been revealed for this distinctive SUV.
Originally anticipated to be named the EQG, the Mercedes-Benz G580 featuring EQ Technology Will be the sole non-AMG G-Wagen available at local dealerships, following the discontinuation of the diesel G400d in 2022.
Priced from $249,900 before on-road costs It’s nearly $120,000 cheaper than the G63 AMG However, this price difference narrows when you purchase the limited-run Edition One, which comes equipped with features not offered on the standard version.

The G580 is driven by four electric motors that can generate up to 432kW and 1164Nm, enabling this approximately 3000kg SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
An enormous 116kWh battery powers the boxy electric vehicle, boasting a stated driving range of 473km according to the WLTP testing standards.
Although it retains the ladder frame construction shared with other G-Wagen models to maintain its off-roading capabilities, the G580 boasts a refined look. This includes an elevated hood, updated A-pillar trims, a rooftop spoiler, along with aerodynamic enhancements like rear-wheel air curtains.

And indeed, the G-Turn system – which enables it to rotate 360 degrees around its central axis – has been incorporated into the production version as well.
The initial shipments are scheduled for arrival before mid-2025.
