The leader of ODM, Raila Odinga, states that he has no intention of using any political backing to secure a victory in the presidential race for 2027.

While attending a funeral ceremony in Machakos County on Saturday, March 15, Raila rejected the advances extended to him by ex-deputy president Rigathi Gachgua and his supporters during his speech there.
A couple of weeks ago, as Gachagna was trying to attract Raila to join his side, he pledged to assist the ODM leader in winning an election for the first time.
This sentiment was echoed by Muranga Senator Joe Nyutu, who advised the ODM leader to think about forming an alliance with the ex-vice president if his aim is to become the president.
Nevertheless, rejecting the proposal, Raila stated that it would not serve his purpose to witness the nation succumb to such self-centered motives.
He stated that it was essential for him to align himself with President William Ruto to assist in running the country instead of teaming up with individuals like Gachagna for the 2027 objectives.
